Neither is universally better: availability, what you can check, and the instructions for refusing delivery differ by order. The key practical rule is to inspect the item before accepting it—and, on an Amazon order that asks for an OTP, do not provide the OTP until you are satisfied.
How the two services work
These are doorstep inspection options attached to eligible orders, not a guarantee that every order can be opened or that every fault will be found. Flipkart’s official article describes its Open Box Delivery service; Amazon product listings use the name Open Box Inspection. Both describe checking the delivered item before acceptance.

What to do before accepting an eligible delivery
- Check eligibility before delivery. Look at the specific product or order details to see whether inspection is offered; availability is selective on both platforms.
- Inspect the item against your order. Check the product identity and visible condition, and verify included accessories. These checks are specifically named in Amazon’s listing; Flipkart describes checking damage, correctness, and whether the item is intact.
- Raise a problem before acceptance. On Amazon, follow the listing’s instruction not to submit the OTP until satisfied. On Flipkart, ask the Wishmaster to cancel delivery if the item is wrong or damaged.
- Use the order’s written terms for anything beyond the doorstep check. The cited service descriptions do not establish complete warranty coverage, a guarantee of functionality, or all post-delivery return rights.
Which one is better?
There is no evidence-based universal winner. For a specific purchase, the better option is the one available for that order with inspection and refusal terms that meet your needs. Flipkart’s official article is clearer about selective availability, example product categories, the free service, and refusing a wrong or damaged item. Amazon’s eligible listings are more explicit about missing accessories and the stated consequence for damage returns after OTP submission. Those are differences in the sources available, not proof that either platform’s full policy is better in every case.
What open-box inspection does not establish
Doorstep inspection is not the same as a full test of an item’s operation or a complete review of every component. The service descriptions support checking the product, visible damage, and specified accessories; they do not say that inspection guarantees functionality or removes every later remedy. Amazon’s cited OTP warning is specific to damage returns in those listings, and should not be expanded into a claim about all legal, warranty, or return rights. Flipkart’s cited article does not set out complete OTP or post-delivery claim terms.

Amazon’s older secure-delivery information describes tamper-evident packaging and OTP verification for selected orders. That is background on secure delivery, not a current policy statement about Open Box Inspection.
