WePC called it the lowest price it had tracked since launch, but that does not establish the price available today or a universal all-time record. Check Amazon’s live listing before buying.
What the Amazon deal was—and what it proves
The deal was for the MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED, a 27-inch-class monitor with a 26.5-inch panel. WePC reported an Amazon price of $849.99 on March 16, 2026, compared with a $1,099.99 launch price. That is a $250 reduction, or about 22.7% off the launch price. WePC’s deal report described the price as the lowest it had tracked for the model since launch.

That record claim is limited to WePC’s tracked history at the time of its report. The available price information does not confirm that Amazon still sells the monitor for $849.99, nor does it establish a complete market-wide price history. Treat $849.99 as a historical benchmark, not a live offer.
The official MSI U.S. store listing observed in the supplied price information showed $899.99 and in-stock status, but that observation does not verify today’s price or availability. Amazon pricing, stock, seller, and coupon terms can change independently.

Check the listing before you order
- Confirm the model is MPG 272URX QD-OLED; similar MSI model names do not necessarily mean equivalent features.
- Check that the item is new, and review who sells and fulfills it, the return window, and whether the unit qualifies for the intended regional warranty.
- Look for any coupon or account-specific promotion and confirm the price after it is applied. Shipping and sales tax may change the amount you pay.
What you get for the premium
The MPG 272URX combines 4K resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and QD-OLED technology in a compact desktop format. MSI lists a 3840×2160 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and 0.03ms GtG response-time specification. The response-time figure is a manufacturer specification, not a measure of total system latency or a guarantee of the experience in every game. See MSI’s specifications.
At this size, 4K offers fine image detail and a high pixel density—useful for games and text alike. Many desktop users will use display scaling, so the practical benefit is often cleaner detail rather than simply fitting more unscaled content on screen. QD-OLED’s self-emissive pixels can produce deep blacks and strong contrast; that is a different benefit from simply having a high peak-brightness figure.

Ports and features
- DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20: MSI specifies up to 80Gbps bandwidth and support for 4K/240Hz without Display Stream Compression in its stated DisplayPort configuration. Using that mode depends on compatible source hardware and a suitable cable.
- Two HDMI 2.1 ports: MSI lists support up to 4K/240Hz. HDMI 2.1 also provides a practical connection for current consoles, which generally target up to 4K/120Hz rather than 240Hz.
- USB-C: DisplayPort Alt Mode and up to 98W power delivery can make the monitor useful as a single-cable display and charging connection for a compatible laptop.
- USB hub and switching: It has two USB-A 5Gbps ports and a USB-B upstream port, plus KVM, picture-in-picture, and picture-by-picture support.
- Adaptive sync: MSI lists G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support.
The stand supports tilt, swivel, pivot, and up to 110mm of height adjustment; the monitor also supports 100×100mm VESA mounting. MSI lists 250 nits typical SDR brightness, 450 nits typical HDR brightness, and a 1,000-nit peak under its stated test conditions. The peak figure should not be read as sustained full-screen brightness. It carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Is $849.99 a good price for this monitor?
It is most compelling if you specifically want the combination of 27-inch-class 4K, 240Hz, QD-OLED, high-bandwidth DisplayPort, and USB-C charging. The historical discount made that premium feature set $250 cheaper than its launch price; it did not make the monitor a low-cost option for gaming in general.

- 3rd-Gen QD-OLED Panel – With stunning image quality and fast response time.
- Fastest 0.03ms GtG response time and 240Hz refresh rate.
- QD Premium Color – Ensures the color meets the market standard – Delta E≤2.
- Incredible HDR visual – VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400.
- Gaming Intelligence App – Create the perfect viewing settings for your games.
Compare the price with what you actually need. A 1440p OLED can be less demanding on a graphics card and may cost less; a 4K IPS monitor may suit someone who prioritizes sustained brightness or has little interest in OLED contrast; and lower-refresh-rate 4K displays can be better value if the games played do not benefit from 240Hz. No current competitor prices are established here, so compare live listings rather than assuming a particular alternative is cheaper today.
It makes sense for
- High-end PC owners whose graphics hardware and games can make use of high frame rates at 4K. The monitor can display up to 240 refreshes per second; it does not generate 240 frames per second itself.
- Players who value OLED contrast, fine 4K detail, and high refresh rates enough to pay a premium.
- Laptop users who can use USB-C video and up to 98W charging, or people switching peripherals between multiple systems with the KVM.
Think twice if
- Your PC cannot deliver high frame rates at 4K in the games you play. Upscaling or frame generation may help in demanding titles, but neither turns every system into a native 4K/240fps setup.
- You spend long stretches in static desktop applications and are uncomfortable with OLED image-retention concerns or maintenance routines.
- You need strong sustained brightness in a very bright room, or want a monitor primarily for productivity at a lower price.
OLED care, brightness, and warranty considerations
Long exposure to static elements such as taskbars, application interfaces, and fixed game HUDs can contribute to image retention or permanent burn-in on OLED displays. Temporary image retention is not the same as permanent burn-in. MSI advertises OLED Care 2.0 features and a three-year warranty that includes burn-in coverage; those protections reduce some ownership concerns but do not make burn-in impossible. Review the MSI product information and applicable regional warranty terms before purchase. MSI also notes that availability and specifications can vary by market.

- 3rd QD-OLED Panel – With stunning image quality and fast response time.
- Fastest 0.03ms GtG response time and 165Hz refresh rate.
- QD Premium Color – Ensures the color meets the market standard – Delta E≤2.
- Incredible HDR visual – VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400.
- MSI OLED Care 2.0 – Reduced the risk of OLED burn-in.
Leave the monitor’s protective care features enabled and follow its maintenance prompts rather than disabling them simply to avoid interruptions. OLED maintenance routines can temporarily interrupt use. MSI’s stated 250-nit typical SDR brightness and its qualified HDR figures also matter if the display will sit in a sunlit room: the 1,000-nit peak is not a promise of sustained brightness across the whole screen.
Verdict: a targeted premium deal, not a universal bargain
If Amazon again offers a new, warranty-eligible MPG 272URX QD-OLED near $849.99, that would match the historical price WePC tracked as its low at the time of the March 16, 2026 report. It is a persuasive price for buyers who specifically want 4K/240Hz QD-OLED and have hardware to use it. If your system, room, or daily workload does not suit those features, a cheaper 1440p OLED or 4K LCD may be a better use of your budget.
