No—Amazon is not No. 1 on LinkedIn’s current U.S. Top Companies list. It ranks No. 4 in LinkedIn’s 2026 edition, published April 28, 2026. The list ranks 50 U.S. employers using career-growth indicators drawn from LinkedIn data; it is not a poll of where all workers most want to work.
What LinkedIn’s ranking says about Amazon
Amazon’s position is No. 4 on LinkedIn’s 2026 U.S. Top Companies list. LinkedIn published this 10th annual edition on April 28, 2026, naming 50 workplaces it considers strong for career growth. LinkedIn News Senior Editor Juliette (Faraut) Bell described it as a list that “highlights the 50 best workplaces to grow your career in the U.S.” LinkedIn’s 2026 list gives the company ranking and context.
The title’s “where people want to work” wording can be misleading: the list is not a direct measure of universal employee preference or a declaration that Amazon is the best employer for every worker. It reflects LinkedIn’s assessment of career-related indicators.
How LinkedIn evaluates companies
For the 2026 list, LinkedIn analyzed anonymized, aggregated member profile information for the period January 1 through December 31, 2025. Its methodology uses eight pillars: ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence in the country. LinkedIn also applies eligibility rules involving company size, attrition, and layoffs.

These dimensions offer a career-growth lens, but they do not amount to a job-satisfaction survey or a personalized assessment of an opening. LinkedIn says that being a LinkedIn client does not influence a company’s ranking. Its methodology and eligibility information explain the basis and limits of the list.

Use Amazon’s placement as a reason to investigate opportunities, not as a substitute for evaluating a specific job. LinkedIn recommends exploring openings and connections through its list. The list article also points readers toward career resources.
Rank #2
- Compare the actual role and its advancement path with your career goals.
- Check compensation, location, work arrangements, and the team or manager for the opening.
- Consider whether the skills and experience the role develops are useful for your next step.
- Look at the company’s position alongside your own priorities; a national ranking cannot establish whether a particular team or job will suit you.
For personal-finance decisions, assess the specific offer’s pay and benefits rather than inferring compensation or job security from the ranking. The list does not rank individual openings or tell you whether a role’s total compensation fits your needs.
