Amazon Australia announced 600 seasonal roles on May 1, 2025, ahead of that year’s mid-year sales season, including Prime Day. The openings were temporary roles at fulfilment centres and Amazon Logistics sites—not a current vacancy count. Amazon said applicants did not need previous experience or formal qualifications, and would receive on-the-job training.
What the 600 roles involved
Amazon said seasonal workers would help handle customer demand by picking and packing orders. Its announcement described the work as “pick, pack and ship,” and said no previous experience or formal qualifications were required. Amazon said it would provide training on the job. Amazon’s May 1, 2025 announcement quoted Michelle Theophilou, Senior HR Manager, Amazon Australia: “There is no previous experience required as we provide on-the-job training, so we are just looking for enthusiastic people to sign up for a seasonal role.”

Where Amazon listed the seasonal roles
The 2025 announcement named nine locations: Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, the Gold Coast, Gosford and Geelong. That was the list in the announcement, not a live list of openings. Anyone looking for work should check Amazon’s current listings for vacancies and locations before applying.
Seasonal employment and Amazon Flex are different options
The 600 figure covered seasonal hires for Amazon fulfilment and logistics operations. Amazon also mentioned Amazon Flex, a separate delivery-partner opportunity described as a flexible earning option. Delivery partners should not be counted as part of the 600 seasonal employee roles.

Could a seasonal role lead to permanent work?
Amazon described seasonal work as a possible stepping stone to permanent employment. The company also said it had created more than 550 permanent operational roles in Australia that year, in addition to the seasonal positions. That company-reported figure does not show how many seasonal workers moved into permanent jobs or predict an individual worker’s chance of conversion.
Why the 600 figure is historical
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual shopping event for Prime members, and Amazon linked the 2025 hiring to its mid-year sales period. The employment announcement did not say applicants needed to be Prime members. Amazon’s separate 2025 Prime Day article provides context for that event.

Amazon later announced different hiring totals for separate periods: 850 seasonal roles ahead of Prime Day in July 2026, and plans for 3,000 seasonal roles ahead of the 2026 festive season, Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday. These later announcements do not change the 2025 count or mean the earlier positions are still open.
