ALLtech is an association health trust that offers a health-benefits program for qualifying Washington technology companies that are GeekWire members. The program promotes “choice, coverage and cost,” but the available materials do not independently establish that it is the best or least expensive option. Employers should confirm eligibility and compare current quotes, plan documents and provider participation before choosing coverage.
What ALLtech is—and what the “best” claim means
ALLtech describes itself as a nonprofit association health trust that brings technology companies together to access health coverage as a larger group. GeekWire identifies itself as a plan sponsor. Those descriptions explain the program’s structure, not whether its premiums, coverage or provider access outperform another employer plan. ALLtech’s About page provides its account of the organization and its relationship with GeekWire.

The headline phrase “best in choice, coverage and cost” reflects promotional positioning. In a December 4, 2024 GeekWire interview, Regence BlueShield president Claire Verity said, “It’s all about choice, coverage, and cost.” That is a partner’s description of the program’s value proposition, not an independent comparison. The reviewed materials do not include matched quotes or plan details that would support ranking ALLtech as best, cheapest, or strongest on network breadth.
Who may be eligible
The current GeekWire Technology Employee Health Benefits Program page says the program is for Washington technology companies that are GeekWire members, with 2 to 199 employees. It lists fields such as software design, digital media content, e-commerce, gaming, telecommunications, wireless technologies and emerging technologies. These are the program’s stated eligibility terms; a company should confirm its qualification and any current participation rules directly with ALLtech or its broker.

An employer can work through its existing broker or contact ALLtech to request a quote, according to the program page. Eligibility alone does not establish that a particular plan is available to the employer, or that it fits the needs of its workforce.
What the current program page describes
Medical carriers and administration
The GeekWire page names Regence BlueShield and Asuris Northwest Health as regional nonprofit medical carriers. It identifies Associated Industries Management Services (AIMS), based in Spokane, as the benefits administrator, and describes support that includes consolidated billing, enrollment processing, eligibility updates and COBRA administration.
Rank #2
The page says Asuris serves specified Washington counties. Employers should check the current service area and provider participation for the counties where employees live and receive care. The page characterizes the Regence BlueShield and Asuris networks as broad, but does not provide a comparative network measurement.
Wellness and care resources
The page lists DispatchHealth, Empower, Active&Fit, My Strength, Doctor On Demand, Hinge Health, a 24-hour nurse line and MedSavvy among resources available with most medical plans. “Most” matters: the list is not a guarantee that every resource is included with every plan. Ask which services apply to the specific plan being quoted, and whether any limits or eligibility conditions apply.

Why older plan counts should not guide a current decision
A GeekWire sponsored article published October 27, 2023, described 22 medical plans for the 2024 plan year and reported plan suites and deductible ranges for that year. It also described dental, vision, life and AD&D, and employee assistance offerings. Those are historical 2024-plan-year details, not confirmation of 2026 offerings. The article is available at GeekWire’s 2023 sponsored article.
A December 4, 2024 sponsored interview likewise stated that 22 Regence medical plans were available at that time and discussed BlueCard for out-of-state employees. These statements should be read as dated partner-interview information, not as current plan availability or independent evidence of network superiority. The interview does not replace current plan documents or provider checks.
How to compare an ALLtech quote with another employer option
Ask for quotes and plan documents for the same plan year and workforce. A useful comparison looks beyond the monthly premium: employee costs depend on contributions, cost sharing, covered services and whether employees can use participating providers where they live.
- Premiums and contributions: Compare the employer’s cost and employee contributions for each coverage tier.
- Cost sharing: Check deductibles, copays, coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximums, including how they apply to individual and family coverage.
- Prescription coverage and services: Review prescription terms, covered services, plan-specific limits and exclusions.
- Provider access: Check participation for each employee’s location, including out-of-state access where relevant. Confirm specific doctors, hospitals and other providers against the plan’s current directory or directly with the carrier.
- Eligibility and enrollment: Ask about employer qualification, employee participation requirements, enrollment timing and any other rules that affect who can enroll.
- Administration: Compare billing, enrollment processing, eligibility updates, COBRA support and fit with the employer’s HR and payroll processes.
Use current documents and quotes rather than dated plan counts or deductible figures. If a broker is involved, ask for a like-for-like comparison and clarification of any differences in assumptions, workforce census, plan year or contribution design.

GeekWire’s current program page says employers can work through their existing broker or contact ALLtech to request a quote. Before deciding, ask for current plan documents and confirm which carriers, plans, resources and administrative services apply to your company. The program’s stated eligibility and services can change, so verify them directly rather than relying on older coverage descriptions.
Quick Recap
For context, GeekWire reported in 2019 that its partnership with ALLtech dated to 2014, and a sponsored post that year used the “best” framing in its title. That history explains the longstanding association and promotional language; it does not establish current comparative value. See GeekWire’s 2019 partnership article and its 2019 sponsored post.
