Allen Family Philanthropies announced $6,868,990 in grants over three years for eight projects led by nonprofits at Seattle Center. The funding is intended to broaden young people’s access to and participation in arts and culture, with planned work spanning music, dance, film, theatre, pop culture, science, and youth arts engagement.
How the Seattle Center grants are structured
The foundation’s November 19, 2025 announcement describes a three-year package totaling $6,868,990. The eight grant amounts below sum to that total. These are announced plans; the announcement does not establish that the activities have been completed or report attendance or impact.

All eight organizations operate on the Seattle Center campus, according to the foundation’s announcement. Across the projects, young people may take part as audience members, learners, mentees, performers, artists, or contributors to creative work. Free access is specifically stated for MOPOP’s residency program; all-ages programming is specified in KEXP’s and The Vera Project’s plans.
Why the foundation says it is funding youth arts
Allen Family Philanthropies frames the grants as an investment in young artists and audiences, as well as in Seattle’s arts and culture sector. Anh Nguyen, the foundation’s director of arts, youth and community, said: “By investing in arts organizations that engage young people, we invest in the creators, audiences, and advocates who will contribute to and sustain a vibrant arts and culture sector in Seattle for years to come.”

Nguyen also described Seattle Center as “a place where many young Seattleites engage in the arts and learn about community building.” The announcement says Seattle Center receives over 12 million visitors annually and calls it the most visited arts and cultural destination in the Pacific Northwest. Those figures and that characterization are the foundation’s; the announcement does not provide visitor-count methodology.

The Seattle Center grants are distinct from other investments mentioned by the foundation. Its November 2025 announcement references earlier local arts funding, including $9 million for eight downtown arts organizations and grants administered through ArtsFund’s Community Accelerator Grant program; those are not part of the $6,868,990 Seattle Center total.

ArtsFund reported on April 21, 2026 that the separate Community Accelerator Grant would return for a fourth year with $10 million in unrestricted funding for Washington arts and cultural nonprofits. That statewide program is not an update or expansion of the eight Seattle Center awards.
