What the Allahabad High Court HJS notice announced
The High Court of Judicature at Allahabad invited applications for direct recruitment to the Uttar Pradesh Higher Judicial Service-2023. The advertisement covered 83 vacancies and listed a revised pay scale of Rs. 144,840–194,660. These are figures from the High Court’s 2024 advertisement, not a current vacancy or salary offer. The advertisement said reservation provisions applied to candidates belonging to Uttar Pradesh.
What were the application deadlines?
The initial notice scheduled online applications from March 15 to April 30, 2024, with the online window closing at 23:59. The Court subsequently extended the online application, photo and signature upload, and fee-deposit deadline to May 15, 2024. Candidates could download and print the hard copy through May 22, 2024. The official UPHJS-2023 recruitment page records the revised dates and links to the extension notice and other archived documents.

April 30 in the original headline was therefore not the final online deadline. The extension is historical; neither deadline is still available.
Who was eligible under the advertisement?
The advertisement required at least seven years of continuous practice as an advocate. It also set an independent-case requirement during the specified preceding three-year period:
- Unreserved and EWS candidates: independent conduct of at least 30 cases, excluding bunch cases.
- SC, ST and OBC candidates: independent conduct of at least 24 cases, excluding bunch cases.
The notice also stated that a candidate must not already be in Union or State service. Consult the advertisement for the complete conditions and the precise application procedures; the case-count and reservation provisions should not be generalized beyond the categories and Uttar Pradesh context stated in the notice.
How were hard copies handled?
In addition to the online application, the notice prescribed a forwarded hard copy with supporting documents. The process and dates differed depending on whether the advocate practised within or outside Uttar Pradesh. Since the application period has ended, applicants reviewing a past submission should use the notice and instructions on the official recruitment page rather than rely on the original April 30 headline.

The High Court recruitment page links the advertisement, instructions, how-to-apply guide, syllabus, extension notice, preliminary-examination notice and a list of provisionally permitted candidates. Use the official recruitment page to consult those archived materials.
A separate official UPHJS portal lists a suitability-test application period of August 17–31, 2026. That later activity is for a suitability test and does not reopen or extend the 2024 Advocate recruitment application.
