How to interpret the highest figure
The Numbers lists The Final Reckoning at $400 million, but a secondary franchise summary gives a reported range of $300 million to $400 million. The $400 million figure is therefore the top listed estimate, not a verified final expenditure; the available reporting does not settle the exact cost. The franchise summary also presents the range.

What this ranking does—and does not—measure
Nominal production estimates, not inflation-adjusted budgets
The figures are nominal estimates: they do not adjust earlier films for changes in purchasing power. This means the ranking compares the reported dollar amounts, not what each budget would represent in the same year. A consistent method and source for inflation-adjusted figures are not established here.
Production budget is not total studio cost
A production budget does not by itself include or establish marketing spend, distribution costs, or a film’s break-even box office. It also cannot show whether a movie was profitable or how audiences should rank its quality.
