Dawn reported on May 24, 2025, that Alibaba.com had launched online logistics services for Pakistani exporters. Separate agreements with Pakistani entities involving Alibaba Group were reported in May 2026, but those were broader cooperation agreements—not the launch of that exporter service.
What did Alibaba.com announce for Pakistani exporters?
Dawn reported on May 24, 2025, that Alibaba.com launched online logistics services intended to help Pakistani exporters ship internationally. The launch report said Alibaba.com had partnered with international express delivery companies and described services spanning several stages of an export shipment.
- Packaging and warehousing: support before a shipment leaves the exporter.
- Delivery and order tracking: international express shipping and shipment-status monitoring.
- Customs advisory: guidance related to customs processes.
The report said the partner network could support shipments to more than 200 countries and regions. That is a reach claim attributed to Alibaba.com in the launch coverage, not an independently audited count of destinations served or shipments completed. Dawn also attributed to Summer Gao, identified as Alibaba.com’s Head of Global Supply Chain, the statement that “online logistics services were essential for SMEs in global trade.” Dawn’s May 24, 2025 report is the source for these launch details.
Was this Alibaba’s first entry into Pakistan?
The evidence supports a narrower description: Alibaba.com announced a logistics service for Pakistani exporters in 2025. It does not establish that this was Alibaba’s first activity or entry into Pakistan. The “first entry” framing should therefore not be treated as a confirmed fact.

It also matters which entity is being discussed. The 2025 logistics report names Alibaba.com, the B2B platform. Reports from May 2026 name Alibaba Group in connection with agreements involving Pakistani public and private entities. The two reports describe different developments and should not be conflated.
What were the separate 2026 agreements?
On May 24, 2026, Pakistan’s Press Information Department reported that the prime minister visited Alibaba Group’s headquarters in Hangzhou and witnessed agreements with Pakistani entities. Its account described cooperation that included AI and cloud solutions. The Press Information Department’s account does not describe a new launch of the 2025 exporter logistics service.

Radio Pakistan’s account of the same date described a strategic framework covering digital trade, SME empowerment, fintech, AI, cloud solutions, and healthcare innovation. It likewise did not characterize the 2025 logistics announcement as Alibaba Group’s first Pakistani activity. Radio Pakistan’s report concerns broader digital-economy cooperation.
