Alaska Airlines flight attendants did receive substantial raises under a contract ratified in February 2025, but official sources do not verify a 32% pay raise. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) reported immediate pay-scale increases of 18.6% to 28.3%, plus separate boarding pay, retroactive pay and two additional raises. Those terms belong to the completed Alaska-only agreement—not the later Alaska–Hawaiian negotiations, which were still underway in AFA’s September 14, 2026 update.
What the 2025 Alaska contract provides
Alaska flight attendants represented by AFA ratified a three-year agreement on February 28, 2025. AFA reported that 95% of voters approved it, with 91% participation. Alaska Airlines said the contract took effect March 2, 2025.
AFA reported an immediate pay-scale increase of 18.6% to 28.3% on the day the agreement was signed. The range is the stated increase to the pay scale; it should not be treated as a verified 32% total raise. The union’s release separately lists boarding pay, 25 months of retroactive pay and two additional raises during the contract, but does not combine those items into a 32% figure or explain a calculation that would produce one. AFA’s February 28, 2025 ratification announcement describes the terms.
Alaska said the agreement also improved scheduling and benefits and set a 10.5-hour maximum scheduled duty day. The company’s announcement confirmed the March 2 effective date. Alaska Airlines’ contract announcement provides the company’s account.

How the completed contract differs from later joint bargaining
The 2025 Alaska agreement and the subsequent Alaska–Hawaiian bargaining are separate developments. The first is a ratified contract for Alaska flight attendants; the second concerns joint negotiations involving Alaska and Hawaiian flight attendants. AFA’s September 14, 2026 update said the joint negotiations were still underway and that no agreement had been reached on the sections discussed.

Does the evidence support a 32% raise?
Not on the basis of the official sources cited here. AFA states the immediate pay-scale increase as a range of 18.6% to 28.3%, and identifies other compensation provisions separately. Neither AFA’s ratification release nor Alaska’s announcement says the contract delivers a 32% raise. The sources also do not explain where that headline figure came from or provide a method for calculating it.
That distinction matters when reading compensation headlines: a pay-scale percentage, retroactive pay covering a stated period, boarding pay and later scheduled increases are different provisions. Without a source defining the calculation, time period and employees it covers, adding or combining them into one percentage would be unsupported.

When the Alaska agreement can be amended
Alaska Air Group’s 2025 annual report lists February 28, 2028, as the Alaska flight-attendant agreement’s amendable date. Under the Railway Labor Act, agreements become amendable rather than expiring; the existing terms remain in effect until a new agreement is ratified. The date therefore is not an expiration date. The annual report also counted 7,164 Alaska flight attendants represented by AFA as of December 31, 2025. Alaska Air Group’s 2025 annual report gives these figures and explains the amendable-date framework.

Quick Recap

- DOUBLE-DECK ORGANIZATION: Two independently zippered compartments separate main meals from snacks and small essentials. Use the lower insulated compartment for meal containers, drinks, and other heavier items. The upper compartment is best for fruit, packaged snacks, utensils, napkins, and other lightweight items that are dry or securely sealed. Avoid placing heavy bottles in the upper compartment unless the lower compartment is fully supported.
- REINFORCED TOP AND BASE: Built-in 2 mm PE structural support panels reinforce both the lid and base, helping support packed contents and maintain a neat, upright profile when the bag is full. The reinforced base also provides a more stable platform for stacked meal containers and drinks.
- INSULATED LOWER COMPARTMENT: The main lower compartment uses 4 mm PE foam in the sidewalls and base, together with insulated lid and divider layers, to help maintain food and drink temperature when used with ice packs. The heat-welded PEVA liner helps contain melted ice and everyday spills. Ice packs are sold separately.
- APPROX. 18L CAPACITY: Expanded exterior measures 12.0 x 8.7 x 11.4 inches, excluding handles and strap. In the measured lower-compartment setup, the bag held three standard meal containers and nine 330 ml cans at the same time without ice packs. Actual fit varies by container size; ice packs reduce available space.
- BUILT FOR FLIGHT CREWS: A wide pass-through trolley sleeve slides over a rolling luggage handle for hands-free terminal travel, while its zippered pocket keeps a passport, crew ID, hotel key, or small essentials accessible. Carry the bag by the padded handles or detachable adjustable shoulder strap, and organize extras in the front zip pocket, two side mesh pockets, and interior lid mesh pocket.
