Airbnb says its AI agent handles nearly 30% of its North American support tickets that are in English. CEO Brian Chesky gave that figure on the company’s February 12, 2026 earnings call; it is a company-reported share, not a claim about every ticket, language, or region.
What Airbnb’s “nearly 30%” figure counts
On Airbnb’s Q4 2025 earnings call, Chesky said: “Right now, nearly 30% of tickets in North America that are English-based are handled by an AI agent.” The statistic therefore has a specific denominator: English-language support tickets in North America. Airbnb’s transcript does not provide a breakdown by issue type or a full methodology for this figure. Airbnb’s Q4 2025 earnings materials include the call transcript.
“Handled by an AI agent” is also not the same measure as an issue being resolved without any human involvement. The distinction matters when comparing the February figure with Airbnb’s later assistant-resolution statistic.
How the later 45% figure differs
In its Q2 2026 results, published in September 2026, Airbnb said nearly 45% of issues that began with its AI Assistant were resolved without a human agent. The denominator is issues that started with the assistant—not all Airbnb support tickets. The release’s footnote says the comparison was based on third-party benchmarking in March and April 2026 across six major US travel-platform AI support assistants. It does not establish that 45% of all Airbnb tickets were resolved autonomously. Airbnb’s Q2 2026 results provide the company’s reported figure and footnote.
#1 Best Overall
| Reported measure | What it counts | Period and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Nearly 30% handled by an AI agent | Support tickets handled by AI | Reported February 12, 2026; English-language tickets in North America |
| Nearly 45% resolved without a human agent | Issues that began with the AI Assistant and were resolved without a human | Q2 2026 result, published September 2026; release footnote cites March–April 2026 third-party benchmarking across six major US travel platforms |
| Around 15% reduction in need to contact a human agent | Change in people’s need to contact a human agent | Airbnb-reported US outcome in Q3 2025 |
Airbnb’s Q3 2025 results separately said its US assistant had reduced people’s need to contact a human agent by around 15%. That contact-reduction measure, reported for an earlier period, is not a ticket-handling share or an assistant-resolution rate. Airbnb’s Q3 2025 results report that outcome.
What Airbnb’s support assistant can do
Airbnb says customers may encounter its AI Assistant when they contact Support. It can draw on Help Center articles and information about a user’s account, listings, or reservations. The company describes it as intended to handle routine support issues and answer questions about Airbnb services; it may also connect a customer with a human support-team member. Airbnb’s Support AI Assistant help article explains how it works.

Can you reach a human, and can the AI be wrong?
Airbnb says the assistant may connect customers with a human support-team member. The company also cautions that the assistant sometimes makes mistakes or gives inaccurate or irrelevant answers. It recommends checking available Help Center resources or speaking with Support when needed; for tax or legal questions, professional guidance may be appropriate. The company has not published an independently audited error rate in the cited materials.

On the February 2026 call, Chesky described a conditional goal: if the rollout succeeded, Airbnb expected significantly more than 30% of tickets to be handled in more languages where it had live agents, and said it expected to add voice alongside chat. That was a forward-looking target at the time, not confirmation that those language expansions or voice support had launched. Airbnb’s Q2 2026 results report the separate assistant-resolution measure; they do not confirm that the stated rollout goals were achieved.
