Boston-based 7AI announced a $130 million Series A on December 4, 2025, led by Index Ventures. Blackstone Innovations Investments, Greylock, CRV, Spark and existing seed investors also participated, bringing the company’s reported total funding to $166 million. Index partner Shardul Shah joined 7AI’s board.
The startup sells AI agents for security-operations work such as alert triage, enrichment, threat searching and investigation. Its headline performance figures are substantial, but they remain company-reported rather than independently audited.

7AI described the round as the largest cybersecurity Series A in history. That is the company’s characterization; the available announcement does not provide an independently verified historical financing comparison. The defensible point is that $130 million is unusually large for a Series A, particularly for a company that emerged from stealth only months earlier.

Who is 7AI?
Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Boston, 7AI was created by former Cybereason co-founders Lior Div, its chief executive, and Yonatan Striem-Amit, its chief technology officer. The company emerged from stealth in February 2025, roughly ten months before announcing the Series A.
The founders’ enterprise-security background is relevant context for the company’s positioning, but it does not guarantee that 7AI will follow Cybereason’s commercial or technical path.
What “agentic security” means in practice
In 7AI’s model, a security alert can trigger a group of specialized agents rather than a single static rule or a human analyst working through every step manually. The agents can classify an alert, gather context from connected systems, search for related activity, correlate telemetry and assemble an investigation.
How the workflow differs from conventional tools
- Detection: A sensor or analytics system identifies a suspicious event.
- Triage: The alert is prioritized and assessed for likely relevance.
- Investigation: Evidence is collected and correlated across endpoint, identity, cloud, network, email or other data sources.
- Response: A containment or remediation action may be proposed or executed, subject to the organization’s controls.
- Human judgment: Analysts handle ambiguity and approve high-impact decisions.
A conventional security tool may detect or prioritize an alert. A SOAR platform generally follows a predefined playbook. An agentic system attempts to decide which investigative steps are needed, choose the appropriate tools or data sources and adapt as evidence changes. “Autonomous” therefore describes the amount of investigative work software performs; it does not establish that every response action is unsupervised.

The security-operations problem 7AI is targeting
Security teams routinely face more alerts and investigations than their available analysts can process. 7AI’s stated thesis is that agents should handle repetitive, non-human work so people can spend more time on threat hunting, strategic defense and consequential decisions.
That thesis has practical limits. Alert volume is not the same as actionable threat volume, and reducing the number of escalations is useful only when genuine threats are not suppressed. Results also depend on telemetry quality, integration coverage, permissions and the customer’s existing SIEM, endpoint, identity and cloud controls.
What evidence did 7AI provide?
In its funding announcement, 7AI reported that its agents had processed more than 2.5 million alerts and completed more than 650,000 investigations in production. The company said customers reported saving 30 minutes to 2.5 hours per investigation and reducing false positives by as much as 95% to 99% in production.
Those figures should be read as company-reported claims. The public materials do not specify customer-by-customer methodology, baseline alert volumes, the precise definition of an investigation, the denominator for the false-positive percentage, missed-detection rates, escalation rates or independent validation. A large reduction in false positives could reflect better classification, but it could also reflect aggressive suppression if true-positive safeguards are weak.

7AI also said DXC Technology deployed what it called the world’s largest agentic security operation in eight weeks. The announcement does not provide enough operational detail to independently assess that description.
Why investors made the bet
Index Ventures
Index led the financing and received a board seat through Shardul Shah. The investment indicates that Index sees agentic AI as a potentially important enterprise-security category; it is not, by itself, evidence of broad commercial adoption, profitability or technical superiority.
Blackstone Innovations Investments
Blackstone Innovations Investments joined as a new investor. Blackstone Chief Security Officer Adam Fletcher described the relationship as a design partnership focused on product innovation and execution. That creates a potentially useful customer perspective, but the financing announcement does not establish that Blackstone standardized its security operations on 7AI.
Existing investors
Greylock, CRV, Spark and other seed investors also participated. Follow-on investment can signal confidence, but it does not disclose valuation, revenue, retention or product performance.

How 7AI said it will use the money
The company said the capital would fund expansion of its AI Security Engineering organization, growth of go-to-market teams, deeper channel partnerships, work with federal-agency partners and a channel-first scaling strategy. The announcement did not disclose a valuation, revenue target, hiring total or specific geographic expansion plan.
7AI’s commercial model
Customers can deploy the 7AI Platform independently or add PLAID, which 7AI describes as “People-Led, AI-Driven.” PLAID provides white-glove customization and expert guidance from proof of value through production and beyond.
This is a hybrid software-and-services model. Services can help a large enterprise connect complex systems and tune workflows, but they may also increase implementation effort, create greater dependence on vendor specialists and make total cost harder to compare with a conventional software license. 7AI has not published list pricing, contract minimums, usage charges or typical deployment costs.

- On June 1, it announced capabilities related to threat hunting, threat-intelligence hunting and “Skills.”
- On July 23, it announced a formal global alliance and channel program.
- On July 27, it announced federated SIEM and 7AI Build.
The 7-million-investigation figure and the product milestones are first-party announcements. They do not independently establish revenue, customer count, profitability or market leadership.
How enterprise buyers should evaluate 7AI
Accuracy and evidence
- What are the true-positive and false-negative rates for the customer’s own alert mix?
- Can every conclusion be traced to source events, timelines and reproducible reasoning?
- Can analysts challenge, correct and re-run an investigation?
Integrations and data portability
- Which SIEM, EDR, identity, cloud, email, ticketing and SOAR systems are supported?
- Does 7AI replace existing tools, or does it depend on them for telemetry and response?
- Can the customer export evidence, cases and workflows if it changes vendors?
Governance and AI security
- Which actions require human approval, and are least-privilege permissions enforced?
- Are audit logs, segregation of duties and rollback procedures available?
- How does the system resist prompt injection, poisoned telemetry and misleading data?
- What are the retention, tenant-isolation, data-residency and model-training policies?
Economics and operations
- Is pricing based on seats, alerts, data volume, investigations, usage or a platform fee?
- What implementation, integration, professional-services and support costs are added?
- What savings remain after paying for existing SIEM, EDR, data ingestion and analyst coverage?
- What happens when integrations fail, telemetry is incomplete or an agent reaches an unsupported conclusion?
Where 7AI fits among security products
7AI is positioned between several established categories rather than as a simple replacement for one of them. Splunk Enterprise Security is SIEM-centered and attractive to organizations already invested in Splunk. CrowdStrike Falcon is centered on CrowdStrike’s endpoint and security telemetry. Palo Alto Networks Cortex integrates operations and automation with Palo Alto’s broader portfolio. Microsoft Security benefits from Microsoft identity, endpoint, cloud and SIEM integration. Managed detection and response providers remain an alternative for organizations that want a vendor-operated, human-led service instead of running an autonomous investigation platform.
The relevant comparison is not just feature count. Buyers should examine data portability, workflow control, lock-in, approval gates, analyst review, implementation burden and total cost in their own environment.
Bottom line
7AI’s $130 million Series A is a major financing event for the emerging agentic-security category, and the timing suggests strong investor interest in using AI to relieve security-operations bottlenecks. The more consequential test is operational: whether 7AI can deliver accurate, explainable and secure investigations at enterprise scale, with auditable permissions and costs that remain lower than the staffing and tooling burden it is intended to replace.
