A 2020 sale report said that McLaren F1 GTR Longtail chassis 19R, converted for road use by Lanzante, was being offered for sale. That report does not establish that the car is currently available, what it was priced at, or whether it remains registered for road use. The reported sale concerns one converted race car—not every F1 GTR Longtail.
What the 2020 sale report says about chassis 19R
Coverage published in March 2020 identified the car as chassis 19R and reported that Lanzante had converted it for road use. The chassis identification is relayed in a PistonHeads forum thread carrying the story, rather than established here through a primary dealer listing. PistonHeads discussion of the 2020 report
The report said the car was being offered for sale at that time. As of October 4, 2026, its current owner, sale status, asking price, and road registration are not established by the available reporting. “Road-legal” describes the reported conversion of this particular car; it is not proof of its present registration or a general claim about Longtails.
Why the F1 GTR Longtail was built
The Longtail was developed for the 1997 GT1 racing environment, where the F1 GTR faced increasingly purpose-built competition, including from Porsche and Mercedes. Its extended front and rear bodywork formed part of an aerodynamic effort intended to generate more downforce, alongside a weight-reduction program. WhichCar reports 910 kg as a result of that effort, but does not establish it as a measured weight for chassis 19R. WhichCar’s history of the F1 GTR Longtail

- SOLIDO BRAND QUALITY: Solido is known for producing high-quality diecast model cars with exceptional detail, durable construction, and accurate representations of real vehicles. Each model is crafted with precision and built to last.
- MCLAREN BRAND MODEL: This McLaren F1 GTR Short Tail model represents a race car associated with the 1996 2 Horas de Brasilia event. It reflects the aerodynamic proportions, race-focused design, and distinctive competition livery cues linked to endurance racing vehicles, capturing the visual identity and appearance associated with historic GT racing cars.
- FEATURES & DETAILS: This 1:18 scale diecast model measures approximately 10 inches in length and is finished in white #01 N. Piquet / J. Cecotto livery. Designed for display, it highlights race car proportions, aerodynamic body lines, and competition graphics, offering a representation suited for collectors focused on historic motorsport vehicles and endurance racing heritage.
- TOP QUALITY MATERIALS: Constructed with a diecast metal body and plastic components, this model provides structural balance while allowing fine detailing across exterior features. The paint and livery application are evenly applied to reflect the intended racing finish, while smaller components contribute to the overall appearance, supporting a clean, consistent, and visually refined presentation suitable for shelves and display environments.
- COLLECTIBLE DISPLAY ITEM: This McLaren F1 GTR Short Tail model is intended for collectors aged 14 and above and is designed for display purposes. With its racing heritage and detailed finish, it fits well within collections focused on motorsport history, particularly for enthusiasts of endurance racing vehicles and 1990s GT competition design.
That racing purpose distinguishes a GTR Longtail from the standard road-going McLaren F1. A road conversion can adapt an individual competition car for public-road use, but it does not turn the car into a factory-built road F1 or establish that it has the same specification.
Don’t confuse 19R with other road-converted Longtails
Other reports describe different chassis, and their details should not be attributed to 19R.

| 19R, reported in 2020 | The sale story identified it as the first F1 GTR Longtail and said Lanzante converted it for road use. The identification is relayed through a forum post carrying the story. PistonHeads discussion | This is the car covered by the 2020 sale report. |
| 27R, reported in 2018 | Road & Track described it as one of ten Longtails, said Lanzante had made it street-legal, and reported it listed by Tom Hartley Jnr without a disclosed asking price. Road & Track’s report on 27R | A different chassis and an earlier listing; it does not establish a price or sale outcome for 19R. |
| “Squiggles” | Supercars.net described it as the first Longtail to receive road legalization with Gordon Murray overseeing the work, and associated it with a conversion book, race parts, and records. Supercars.net’s coverage of “Squiggles” | A separate car; those conversion details do not establish anything about 19R. |
Road & Track’s 2018 article also speculated about what 27R might be worth. That was not a disclosed asking price or a confirmed sale, and it says nothing reliable about the price of 19R.
