Johnny Depp’s reported property history spans a South of France estate, downtown Los Angeles penthouses, a Kentucky horse farm and a Bahamas residence. But the available reporting does not establish a complete list of what he owns today: the documented sales and asking prices are historical, and his recent comments about home are not property records.
What is known about Johnny Depp’s property portfolio?
Published accounts document several striking properties and transactions, but not a verified present-day inventory or total portfolio value. The clearest picture is a history: Depp bought a large estate in Plan-de-la-Tour, France, acquired five penthouses in downtown Los Angeles, and had a Kentucky equestrian property that he bought, sold and later bought back. A 2025 interview account also describes his connection to the South of France and his usual residence in the Bahamas.
These properties differ sharply in setting and purpose: a village-like compound, city apartments, a horse farm and an island residence. They should not be treated as a current list of holdings. In particular, past listing prices do not establish what a property is worth now or whether it remains owned by Depp.
The Plan-de-la-Tour estate: a French compound, not just a manor
The Los Angeles Times reported on June 27, 2015 that Depp bought the Plan-de-la-Tour estate in 2001 and had listed it for close to $26 million. Those are historical details from the 2015 report, not a current listing or valuation.

The report placed the 37-acre property roughly 17 miles from Saint-Tropez and described stone-built houses dating back more than 200 years. Rather than a single residence, the estate had more than a dozen structures, including a main house, guest cottages, a chapel converted into a guesthouse, a bar and restaurant, a workshop and garage, and a staff house. The Los Angeles Times reported 10,760 square feet of living space, more than 12 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, and more than $10 million spent on improvements. These measurements and costs describe the estate as reported in 2015.
Homes & Gardens later reported that the estate had been listed at different prices and had not sold as of that article, including a reported $55 million relisting the previous year. Its account also described six guest houses and features such as two pools, a gym, a skate park and a wine cave. Those details provide later listing context, but do not establish present ownership, current listing status or a current market value.

Downtown Los Angeles: five Eastern Columbia Building penthouses
Depp bought five penthouses in downtown Los Angeles’s Eastern Columbia Building in 2007, according to the Los Angeles Times report published in 2017. The five units together represented about 11,500 square feet, the paper reported.
In 2017, Depp sold the fourth unit for $1.82 million. The same report said the remaining one-bedroom unit was listed for $1.79 million at that time. Both figures are historical transaction or asking prices; they do not indicate the units’ current status or value.

Kentucky: a horse farm with a buy-sell-buy-back history
The Kentucky property had a more clearly reported sequence of transactions than the other holdings. The 2017 Los Angeles Times account described a 41-acre farm near Lexington with a 5,944-square-foot main house, a guesthouse, three barns, more than a dozen horse stalls and 10 watered paddocks.
| Year | Reported transaction | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1995 | Depp bought the property | $950,000 |
| 2001 | Depp sold the property | $1 million |
| 2005 | Depp bought the property again | $2 million |
The prices and transaction sequence were reported by the Los Angeles Times in 2017. At the time, the farm was scheduled for auction. That report does not establish the auction outcome or who owns the property now.

A 2025 Sunday Times interview, as reported by Realtor.com, offers a personal rather than deed-based account of Depp’s residences. Depp said he usually lives in his “Bahamas joint,” and described the South of France as the first place that felt like home: “Truly, the first time I felt I had a home was the place in the South of France where Vanessa and I raised the kiddies. That’s the only place that ever felt like home.”
That statement connects his sense of home to the French property where he raised his children with Vanessa Paradis, while identifying the Bahamas as where he usually lives. It is an attributed account of his experience, not a complete or independently verified residence history.

Why there is no reliable current portfolio total
The reports establish selected historical purchases, sales and listings—not a comprehensive account of Depp’s present real estate. The 2015 and 2017 Los Angeles Times articles document earlier property details and transactions; the later Homes & Gardens coverage adds French-estate listing context; and the 2025 Realtor.com article recounts Depp’s comments about home. None supplies a verified current inventory, current ownership for every property, or comparable current valuations.
For that reason, a precise count of properties owned today or a present-day portfolio value cannot be responsibly derived from these accounts. A historical asking price, scheduled auction or reported residence is not proof of current ownership or market value.
