The reported 30–40% reduction in GeForce RTX 50 supply was an estimate attributed to Chinese supply-chain sources and BoBantang—not an NVIDIA-confirmed target or verified shipment figure. The forecast concerned the first half of 2026, which has passed. The sources available do not establish whether the reduction happened or how it affected particular models or regions.
Where the up-to-40% figure came from
A late-2025 report by AS/MeriStation said NVIDIA might reduce RTX 50-series supply by 30–40% in the first half of 2026 compared with the first half of 2025. The report attributed the estimate to supply-chain sources in China and BoBantang. It was not a company announcement, and the sources reviewed do not provide independently verified shipment totals. Read the AS/MeriStation report.
Because the forecast period is over, it should not be presented as a current plan. The available reporting does not establish whether NVIDIA made the reported cuts, whether they applied across the RTX 50 lineup, or what happened in any specific market.
What NVIDIA has confirmed about memory supply
An NVIDIA spokesperson told The Information: “Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained.” That statement confirms the company acknowledged a memory constraint affecting GeForce RTX GPUs, but it does not quantify any production impact on RTX 50 cards. The Information also reported that NVIDIA was cutting gaming-GPU production because of memory shortages; that report is separate from the unverified 30–40% estimate. Read The Information’s report.

What official filings and partnerships do—and do not—show
NVIDIA’s regulatory filing
NVIDIA’s Form 10-Q dated July 26, 2026 discusses supply-chain risks and increased supply and capacity commitments. The cited material does not disclose a 30–40% reduction in GeForce production, so it cannot verify the reported consumer-GPU figure. Read NVIDIA’s Form 10-Q on the SEC website.
The SK hynix partnership
On June 7, 2026, NVIDIA and SK hynix announced a multiyear technology partnership to advance memory for AI factories. It is evidence of investment in AI-related memory, but it does not show that AI demand directly displaced memory allocated to GeForce cards. Read NVIDIA’s partnership announcement.

A separate Vera CPU report
TrendForce’s June 10, 2026 report concerns the memory configuration of NVIDIA’s Vera CPU. It says that configuration change should not be interpreted as a reduction in NVIDIA’s total memory requirements. It is a separate topic from RTX 50 gaming-GPU supply. Read TrendForce’s report.
What is known about the RTX 50 series
NVIDIA’s official product page identifies the GeForce RTX 50 Series, and its January 6, 2025 launch announcement describes the series as based on Blackwell. Those materials establish the product family and its launch background, not the later supply-cut estimate. See NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Series page and read the launch announcement.

What this means if you are considering a graphics card
The reported estimate alone is not a sound basis for assuming that RTX 50 cards are currently scarce, that prices have risen, or that a particular model is hard to find. The sources reviewed do not establish current prices, stock, or regional availability. Check live listings for the exact card and market you are considering; compare the listed price with its stated retail price, and confirm the card’s VRAM, suitability for your resolution and workload, power and case requirements, and warranty and return terms.
