Netflix raised prices for all three listed U.S. plans on March 26, 2026. The monthly price went up by $1 for Standard with ads and by $2 for ad-free Standard and Premium. When will the increase affect your bill?
New members saw the updated U.S. rates starting March 26, 2026. Netflix said existing subscribers would receive an email one month before their individual new price took effect, with the rollout happening over the following months according to billing cycle. Your account notice is the best source for the amount and date that apply to you.
Check your location and plan before comparing prices
The figures above are for the U.S. change, not a worldwide price list. Netflix says prices and extra-member eligibility can vary by location and package. Its Help Center’s “Plans and Pricing” page may display localized currency and rates, so use the price shown in your account and the notice sent to you rather than assuming U.S. figures apply elsewhere.

When weighing plans, compare the monthly cost with the features that matter in your household: ads or ad-free viewing, resolution, simultaneous streams, downloads, and extra-member eligibility. Netflix’s Plans and Pricing Help Center page describes plan-feature differences. A feature difference alone does not mean that upgrading or downgrading will be worthwhile for you.
What Netflix says is behind the price change
ABC News reported that a Netflix spokesperson said on March 27, 2026: “Our approach remains the same: we continue offering a range of prices and plans to meet a variety of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members we are updating our prices to enable us to reinvest in quality entertainment and improve their experience by updating our prices.” That is Netflix’s stated rationale; the statement does not independently establish that the increase will produce a particular improvement for each subscriber.

Changing or canceling your membership
Netflix says members can change plans or cancel at any time. Memberships are billed monthly; Netflix does not offer annual, multi-month, or lifetime memberships. For the steps and account-specific details, use Netflix’s Plans and Pricing Help Center page and the notice in your account.
