AWS was down from the prior quarter and a year earlier; Microsoft and Google’s rounded shares were unchanged in those comparisons. Their flat recent readings do not mean their longer-term shares have stopped rising.
Q3 2025 cloud market shares
Synergy Research Group estimated worldwide cloud infrastructure service revenue at $106.9 billion for Q3 2025. Its provider shares, as reported in CRN’s November 2025 comparison, were:
| Provider | Q3 2025 share | Q2 2025 share | Q3 2024 share |
|---|---|---|---|
| AWS | 29% | 30% | 31% |
| Microsoft | 20% | 20% | 20% |
| Google Cloud | 13% | 13% | 13% |
These are rounded estimates of spending or revenue share, not counts of workloads or a measure of every cloud-related product. In the quarter-to-quarter and year-over-year comparisons shown, AWS declined by one and two percentage points respectively. Microsoft and Google were level at the reported precision.
What “cloud market share” measures here
Synergy’s worldwide cloud infrastructure services measure includes infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and hosted private cloud. Public IaaS and PaaS account for most of this broader market. It is not a measure of all software-as-a-service, all information-technology spending, or cloud usage by workload count.
#1 Best Overall
Synergy separately says the three providers held 67% of the public cloud segment. That figure uses a narrower denominator than its 63% combined share of enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services; the two percentages should not be treated as interchangeable.
Why the reported combined share is 63%, not 62%
Synergy reports Amazon, Microsoft, and Google together at 63% of Q3 2025 enterprise spending on cloud infrastructure services. The individual provider shares above add to 62% because each is rounded. Keep the reported combined figure when quoting Synergy rather than recalculating it from rounded components.
Rank #2
Synergy’s longer view also differs from the recent flat readings: it describes Microsoft and Google as having gained share over time. Chief Analyst John Dinsdale says quarter-to-quarter movements are often minimal in a market this large, making the longer-term position more revealing. The unchanged 20% and 13% readings therefore describe the specific rounded comparisons, not a multi-year trend.
Market size and growth in Q3
Synergy estimated worldwide cloud infrastructure service revenue at $106.9 billion in Q3 2025 and $390 billion over the trailing twelve months. The quarter was up by more than $7.5 billion sequentially; year-over-year growth was 28% after backing out major currency fluctuations. Synergy also reported 30% growth in public IaaS and PaaS services.

Synergy attributed much of the positive market momentum to generative AI and said GPU-as-a-service revenue was growing by more than 200% per year. Those growth figures describe the market and service categories, not the growth rate of each named provider.

Omdia estimated Q3 2025 cloud infrastructure spending at $102.6 billion, up 25% year over year, and reported AWS at 32%, Azure at 22%, and Google Cloud at 11%. Its stated market definition includes BMaaS, IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, and serverless hosted by third parties and available over the internet. Synergy’s measure includes IaaS, PaaS, and hosted private cloud.

These are separate analyst estimates, with different stated definitions and resulting market totals and provider shares. They should be compared as distinct series—not averaged, blended, or used to extend one another’s time trends. When evaluating a market-share figure, check the analyst, definition, quarter, comparison period, and whether it refers to broader infrastructure services or the narrower public-cloud segment.
