Mitch Wishnowsky’s four-year extension with the San Francisco 49ers ran through the 2026 season, but the team did not disclose its financial terms. Contemporary reports put the maximum value at either $13 million or $19.3 million, so neither figure should be treated as an officially confirmed contract amount. Wishnowsky later played for Buffalo, which released him on August 30, 2026.
What did Wishnowsky’s 49ers extension pay?
The 49ers announced the four-year extension on September 16, 2022, and said it would keep Wishnowsky under contract through the 2026 season. The team announcement confirmed the term but did not state the contract’s value. San Francisco’s announcement
Reports published at the time gave different maximum values:
- Up to $13 million in new money: NFL.com attributed this figure to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, who cited a source.
- Up to $19.3 million: PerthNow reported this maximum.
The reports conflict, and the 49ers did not publish financial terms that resolve the difference. The figures are reported maximums, not confirmed amounts Wishnowsky necessarily earned. Without comparable contract details, the word “enormous” is a subjective description rather than a substantiated salary ranking.
