Payscore, a software company that helps organizations verify applicants’ income, raised $2.2 million in a funding round reported by GeekWire on April 5, 2023. The company’s March 28 announcement confirmed the round and identified its investors but did not disclose the amount.
Who invested in Payscore?
Payscore said ffVC led the round, with participation from SeaChange Fund, Hamilton Ventures and Seattle’s Alliance of Angels. The $2.2 million figure was reported by GeekWire; it does not appear in the company’s announcement.
What does Payscore do?
Payscore’s software is designed to help property managers and consumer lenders assess an applicant’s income. The company describes a process in which an applicant authorizes access to bank or payroll information, Payscore analyzes income data, and the organization reviewing the application receives a verification report. GeekWire also described use by car dealerships in 2023, but the sources do not establish the current scale of that business.
CEO and co-founder Mark Fiebig described the aim as: “We’re making it simple for applicants and operators to easily share and accurately assess the truth about income.”

How does Payscore verify income?
- The applicant connects a bank account or payroll provider, according to Payscore’s help center.
- Payscore analyzes the financial information to calculate income.
- The applicant’s reviewing organization receives a report to use in its application process.
Payscore says the financial data used to calculate income is deleted within 14 days and the report remains available to the reviewing party for 30 days before deletion. These are the company’s stated retention practices, not independently verified audit findings. Applicants considering the process can ask the organization requesting verification about its requirements and any alternatives.
What is Payscore’s DoorLoop integration?
In June 2026, Payscore and DoorLoop announced an integration intended to bring real-time income insights into tenant screening and property-management workflows. The announcements establish a named integration, not deployment across all customers. They do not establish affiliate or referral terms.

How did Payscore start?
Payscore’s company background page says it was founded in 2017 as The Closing Docs by Mark Fiebig and Stephen Arifin. In its 2023 funding announcement, the company cited roughly 42 million U.S. residential rental units as market context; that is a company-provided figure from 2023, not a current independently verified estimate. The same announcement quoted Hamilton Ventures managing director Prashant Kothari describing 35 percent of people in the United States as renters. That was a dated investor statement, not a current statistic.
