On March 6, 2025, HPE announced a plan to reduce about 2,500 positions over 18 months while continuing its proposed Juniper Networks acquisition amid tariff concerns. The Juniper deal has since closed, but the reported job figure was a plan—not a confirmed count of completed layoffs—and HPE’s latest reviewed filing still described tariff effects as uncertain.
What HPE announced in March 2025
Network World reported on March 6, 2025, that HPE planned to reduce about 2,500 positions over 18 months. The same report put HPE’s workforce at about 61,000 employees worldwide at that time; that is a dated figure, not a current headcount. The reporting covered HPE’s first-quarter FY2025 results, including $7.9 billion in revenue, up 16% year over year. Network World’s March 6, 2025 report quoted CEO Antonio Neri saying, “We could have executed better.”
Was the full 2,500-job reduction completed?
The available reporting establishes the announced target, not the final number of employees who left HPE. It would therefore be inaccurate to say that HPE definitively cut 2,500 jobs. The announcement also did not, by itself, establish which teams, locations, or individual employees would be affected.
Did HPE buy Juniper Networks?
Yes. HPE completed its acquisition of Juniper Networks on July 2, 2025, so the deal is no longer pending. HPE said the combination would expand its networking business and portfolio. HPE’s announcement of the completed acquisition confirms the closing date.

What HPE has said about integration
In June 2026, HPE CFO Marie Myers said the company was executing ahead of schedule against Juniper and Catalyst cost synergies. HPE’s second-quarter FY2026 filing set a target of at least $600 million in Juniper-related synergies by FY2028 and projected approximately $800 million of associated investment. Those are company targets and statements; they do not establish that the savings have already been realized. HPE’s Q2 FY2026 results release and its quarterly filing for the period ended April 30, 2026 provide the company’s updates.
What HPE has disclosed about tariffs
HPE’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 31, 2026, filed in September, described continuing uncertainty rather than a settled tariff cost. The filing said the U.S. Supreme Court struck down certain tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) on February 20, 2026. HPE said it had received some refunds and applied for others, while the ultimate availability, timing, and amount remained uncertain. The filing also described the administration’s intention to use other authorities and its announcement of new tariffs.

HPE said tariff duration, levels, pauses or changes, further government actions, and effects on its business remained substantially uncertain. The filing does not establish a single tariff rate or quantify HPE’s net tariff cost. HPE’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 31, 2026 is the source for that disclosure.

HPE reported $12.2 billion in Q3 FY2026 revenue, up 34% year over year, in results released September 2, 2026. That figure describes company-wide revenue; it does not show that the workforce plan, Juniper acquisition, or tariff developments caused the increase. HPE CEO Antonio Neri described AI as a multi-year growth driver in the results announcement. HPE’s Q3 FY2026 results release provides the reported figure and management commentary.
