What the roundup actually covers
Olivia Halevy’s Tom’s Guide article, “23 best Mother’s Day gifts under $50 — last-minute deals to shop before Sunday”, was published May 8, 2025. Its “before Sunday” language referred to that year’s Mother’s Day shopping window. The visible article body names 20 products, not 23 distinct items.
The choices span sleep and beauty, drinkware, audio, smart-home devices, apparel, fitness, kitchen, and a LEGO bouquet. Retailers named include Amazon, Target, Walmart, Anthropologie, Brooklinen, lululemon, Crocs, and HOKA. It is a broad, taste-based roundup, not a scored comparison or a guarantee that every item will suit every recipient.
Historical prices reported in May 2025
These are the article’s listed sale prices and former prices as reported on May 8, 2025. They are not current October 2026 quotes; prices, availability, sellers, and delivery options may have changed.

How to choose a gift that fits the budget
Start with her routine and interests
For a recipient who values rest, the roundup included satin and silk sleep accessories and an oil candle. Beauty options included under-eye masks and a dryer brush. Drinkware, a portable blender, and cocktail napkins suit different kitchen and beverage routines; the audio and smart-home devices are more useful when they match how she already listens, watches, or manages her home.

Check fit and compatibility before buying
Apparel and clogs require the right size and fit. A tracker, smart speaker, streaming device, or wearable may also depend on the recipient’s phone, home setup, or preferred services. Confirm those details before treating a low price as a good value.
Compare the current total with your limit
A historical sale price does not establish today’s price or the checkout total. Check the live listing, seller, stock, shipping cost, and any applicable tax before deciding whether an item remains under your budget. If you need it quickly, confirm the delivery date or pickup availability for the specific item and your location.

Delivery claims were specific to 2025
The 2025 article described free next-day delivery for most eligible items for Prime members, same-day delivery and in-store pickup at Target, and many Walmart gifts as eligible for two-day shipping, pickup, or same-day delivery. These were historical service claims, not standing promises. Current eligibility and timing depend on the item, location, order cutoff, and retailer listing; check the checkout estimate rather than relying on an old deadline.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to know about the article’s claims
Tom’s Guide described the grace & stella masks as having more than 15,000 five-star Amazon reviews at the time of its May 8, 2025 article. That is a dated product-page review-count claim, not a current count or independent measure of product quality. The same roundup listed specifications for several devices—for example, Bluetooth 5.3 and a stated 30-hour battery life for the Anker Soundcore P20i, and 4K Ultra HD at 60fps with HDR for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max—but those specifications do not substitute for checking current product details and compatibility.
