Peterborough United’s reported allocation was 25,180, but no confirmed figure for Peterborough’s actual sales has been established. Those numbers therefore compare Birmingham sales with Peterborough’s allocation—not sales like for like.
What the reported figures measure
| Club or event | Reported figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Birmingham City | More than 43,000 sold before the final | A pre-final sales milestone reported by BBC Sport on 24 March 2025. |
| Birmingham City | 43,356 tickets | The club’s reported allocation after an additional release; this is an allocation, not the same measure as the sales milestone. |
| Peterborough United | 25,180 tickets | The club’s reported allocation. The cited report does not state how many were sold. |
| Final attendance | 71,722 | Spectators at the completed match, not a measure of either club’s ticket sales. |
BBC Sport reported that Birmingham had sold its initial allocation of 36,800 and was then granted 6,490 more tickets, taking its total allocation to 43,356. The same report gave Peterborough’s allocation as 25,180. It did not confirm Peterborough’s sales total.
Can the two clubs’ sales be compared?
Not on the available figures. Birmingham’s more-than-43,000 figure describes reported tickets sold before the match, while Peterborough’s 25,180 figure describes tickets allocated. An allocation is the number of tickets made available to a club; it does not establish that all of them were purchased. The evidence also does not provide a percentage of either allocation sold.
For a valid sales-to-sales comparison, both clubs would need confirmed sales totals for the same final and reporting point. Those figures are not available here, so claiming that Birmingham outsold Peterborough by a particular number would overstate what is known.

How the Birmingham allocation changed
- Birmingham’s initial allocation was 36,800 tickets.
- After that allocation sold out, the club received an additional 6,490 tickets.
- The resulting reported allocation was 43,356. Separately, BBC Sport reported that Birmingham had sold more than 43,000 tickets by 24 March 2025.
The sales milestone and the final allocation are related but distinct figures: one records reported sales at the time of the article, while the other records the total number allocated after the extra release.
The 2024 Peterborough figure is a different measure
BBC Sport reported that more than 22,000 Peterborough supporters attended the previous season’s final against Wycombe Wanderers. That is a historical attendance figure for the 2024 final, not Peterborough’s ticket sales for the 2025 match. It should not be used to fill the gap in the 2025 sales data.

Final and ticketing context
The 2025 Vertu Trophy Final between Birmingham City and Peterborough United was played at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 13 April, with a 3pm kick-off. The match drew 71,722 spectators. Peterborough won, becoming the first club to retain the competition, according to Vertu Motors’ final recap.
Wembley’s event listing said tickets were sold through the competing clubs. Wembley’s hospitality page also advertised Diamond packages at £349 per person and private boxes at £379 per person, but marked both off sale; those were historical offers for a completed event, not current ticket prices or availability.
