This compares Sony’s recommended prices, not individual retailer selling prices. Sony’s August 2025 U.S. announcement is available at PlayStation.Blog.
Why did Sony raise the prices?
Isabelle Tomatis, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president of global marketing, attributed the decision to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” She said Sony concluded the increases were necessary to continue delivering gaming experiences. The announcement does not quantify specific cost pressures or explain how much any factor contributed.

How to check the price where you live
The announced figures are recommended retail prices, so a retailer may list a product for a different amount because of local pricing, discounts, stock or other factors. For territories not covered by Sony’s price tables, Sony advises checking local retailers or direct.playstation.com where available. Compare the same model and market, and confirm the final checkout price rather than assuming a regional recommendation is a live offer.
The March 2026 announcement is distinct from Sony’s April 2025 price changes in selected markets in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. At that time Sony said PS5 Pro prices were unchanged and also announced a Disc Drive price decrease in those regions. See Sony’s April 2025 announcement.
