The planned 24/7 drive-through at 1/917 Wanneroo Road, Wanneroo, has been approved, and later reporting identified Guzman y Gomez (GYG) as its planned operator. The operator was not named when the proposal was first reported in June 2025. Approval does not confirm that construction has started or that an opening date has been set.
Who is the planned operator?
PerthNow’s June 26, 2025 report described an unnamed fast-food proposal. A signage application later disclosed GYG as the planned operator, according to PerthNow on December 4, 2025. The follow-up report said the development had been approved in August.

Where is the outlet, and what is proposed?
The site is 1/917 Wanneroo Road in Wanneroo, next to a KFC site at the corner of Noonan Drive and Wanneroo Road. The development proposal seeks to demolish existing commercial buildings and replace them with a 24/7 fast-food restaurant and dual-lane drive-through. The June report said the existing premises had been used as a gym, pet store and massage parlour.

The WA planning agenda described an internal restaurant area of about 230 square metres, 43 square metres of alfresco space, a drive-through queue for up to 10 vehicles before the pickup window, 24 parking bays including an accessible bay, and two waiting bays. PerthNow’s December follow-up described the approved project as having 26 on-site parking bays. These are figures from different planning and reporting stages.
Has the Wanneroo Road proposal been approved?
Yes. PerthNow reported that the Outer Metro Development Assessment Panel unanimously approved the development on August 21, 2025. The December follow-up said five submissions were received during consultation: one in support and four opposed.

Opponents raised concerns about traffic and safety and the concentration of fast-food outlets in the area. The panel summary, as quoted by PerthNow, said it supported the application as “a straightforward proposal that replaces other commercial uses in a zone appropriate for the use.” The panel did not consider the concerns sufficient to refuse it.
What is known about traffic and the project cost?
The application’s traffic report was reported by PerthNow to forecast about 572 vehicle trips on a weekday, describing this as a conservative estimate. It is a forecast in the application, not a count of traffic after the restaurant opens.

PerthNow’s December 2025 follow-up described the approved project as a $2.1 million outlet. The original June report said Apex Planning lodged the application on behalf of a private equity firm. The applicants’ report argued that the project would improve site conditions and the site’s relationship to the public realm; that was the applicant’s case, not an independent planning finding.

The available reporting establishes planning approval and the planned operator, but does not establish whether construction has started or when the outlet will open. An approved development should not be mistaken for a completed or operating restaurant.
