For the completed 2024/25 Premier League season, Liverpool received the most in central payments: £174.9 million. Bottom-placed Southampton received £109.2 million. These totals are not a standalone prize for finishing in a particular position: they combine merit payments with equal shares, TV facility fees and other central distributions.
2024/25 Premier League payments by finishing position
The Premier League’s annual report publishes each club’s total central payment and separates several payment components. Amounts below are in £ millions, rounded as published. “Combined merit” is calculated by adding the report’s UK merit and international merit figures; it is not a separately published column.

Why there is no fixed winner’s prize
The Premier League says it offers no specific prize fund for winning the competition. Instead, position affects a sliding merit-payment scale: the champions receive 20 times the basic merit payment, while the club in last place receives one times that payment. The merit amounts in the table are reported as separate UK and international components.

Total central payments are broader than merit payments. The report lists UK and international equal shares, UK facility fees, UK and international merit payments, and a central commercial payment. For 2024/25, each club’s published common amounts included a UK equal share of £29.8 million, an international equal share of £59.2 million and a central commercial payment of £7.9 million. UK facility fees vary with live UK television coverage; the report also records each club’s live UK TV match count, points and goal difference.
Why totals do not follow the league table exactly
A finishing place is not a reliable shortcut for estimating a club’s total. Manchester United finished 15th but received £136.2 million in central payments—more than several clubs above it in the table. Its reported international merit amount was £23.4 million. Differences in other payment components, including facility fees, also shape the totals.

The league describes central revenue distribution as intended to maintain competitive balance and support improvement across club operations. The published amounts show the distribution for one season, not guaranteed future income for a club at the same finishing position.

This breakdown is for 2024/25, the latest completed season for which an official club-by-club central-payments table was available as of 8 October 2026. The 2025/26 season was still underway at that point, so its eventual payments should not be inferred from these figures. The Premier League’s 2024/25 central payments announcement and official explainer provide further context on the payments and merit scale.
