To prevent unapproved Angry Birds 2 purchases, use the purchase-approval controls tied to your child’s app-store account: Apple’s Ask to Buy for eligible purchases on Apple devices, or Google Play family purchase approvals on Android. Check the child’s store account and payment setup, then review its transaction history. Angry Birds 2 is a mobile game available through Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore, and Rovio says in-app purchases are not required to play.
Start with the account used to download the game
Purchase controls follow the store account and its family settings, not simply the device on which Angry Birds 2 is installed. First confirm which Apple, Google Play, or Amazon account the child uses for the game and which payment method is connected to it. Rovio lists the game on Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore.
These controls apply to eligible purchases made through the relevant store. They are not a general monitor for spending outside that store, such as purchases made through another account or payment channel. Check the child’s actual store listing for its age rating and the purchase options currently offered.
Apple: require approval with Ask to Buy
Apple’s Ask to Buy can require a parent or guardian to approve eligible in-app purchase requests. It requires Family Sharing and a child account; availability depends on region and account status. Apple’s current setup route is:

- Open Settings on the parent or guardian’s Apple device.
- Tap Family, then the child’s name.
- Tap Apps & Websites > Restrictions > Ask to Buy.
- Turn on Require Purchase Approval.
See Apple’s Ask to Buy setup and eligibility guidance. If the option is unavailable, check that Family Sharing is set up, the child is using the family-linked account, and the feature is available for the account’s region and status.
Android: check Google Play family purchase approvals
Google Play family purchase approvals can include in-app purchases, but what is covered depends on the family group, account configuration, and payment method. In the child’s Google Play and Family Link setup, review the purchase-approval settings and verify that the payment method used for purchases is covered. Follow Google Play’s current instructions for family purchase approvals; available options can differ with billing and account configuration.

If the child’s account or payment arrangement does not qualify for the approval you expect, do not assume the setting blocks every purchase. Check the applicable settings for that specific account and review its transaction history.
What children can buy in Angry Birds 2
Purchases are optional: Rovio’s parent-help information says in-app purchases are not required to play. The game may still present paid digital items or features. For example, Rovio announced a Treasure Pass in 2023 with a free tier and another tier available as an in-app purchase; that announcement is an example of optional spending, not confirmation that every offer or price remains the same today. Review what was actually spent
Check the purchase history for the store account used by the child, and compare transactions with any approval requests or receipts. If the account shows an unfamiliar charge, use the relevant store’s transaction details and support process to investigate it. The game’s store listing and the account’s own history are more useful for determining current purchase options and actual spending than an old promotion or a general description of the game.
