Public Mobile told a small number of customers on select legacy monthly plans that their bills would rise by $3 per month, starting with a billing cycle beginning October 30, 2025. The notice did not apply to every Public Mobile customer, and the report does not establish whether any particular account is affected now.

What Public Mobile announced

In a September 25, 2025 report, MobileSyrup reported that Telus had contacted a small number of Public Mobile customers on select legacy monthly plans. Telus said the $3 increase would begin on customers’ next billing cycle, with the change beginning October 30, 2025.

Telus’s statement, reproduced by MobileSyrup, said: “We proactively contacted a small number of Public Mobile customers on select legacy monthly rate plans to inform them that they would see a $3 increase on their next billing cycle, beginning October 30.” Telus added that affected customers could choose an in-market monthly plan suited to their needs and budget.

Which plans were mentioned?

MobileSyrup said customer reports appeared to involve legacy $15 and $20 monthly plans. That is not evidence that every customer on either plan—or every Public Mobile customer—received the increase notice. The published account describes a limited group on select legacy plans.

For a $15 plan, an increase of $3 would make the monthly price $18, a 20% rise based on those reported figures. That arithmetic does not establish that a particular customer’s data allowance or other plan features changed.

How to check whether your account was affected

  1. Look for the notice Public Mobile sent to your account, including its stated effective date and the specific plan it names.
  2. Check your account and billing details for the monthly price that applies to your next billing cycle. If the notice is unclear or missing, ask Public Mobile to confirm whether your line is included.
  3. Before changing plans, compare the full monthly price, included data, calling and texting allowances, and whether the plan is available to existing customers. Telus said affected customers could select from in-market monthly plans, but availability and terms can vary.

A Public Mobile Community post from September 2025 asked whether a $15 subscription would become $18; it offers context on customer questions, but an individual post is not a substitute for the notice on your own account.

How to compare alternatives

MobileSyrup named Freedom Mobile, Lucky Mobile, and Chatr Mobile as providers customers could compare. Its report does not verify their current prices, plan terms, or eligibility for existing Public Mobile customers, so check each provider’s current offer directly before deciding. Compare the total recurring cost and included service rather than relying on a headline price alone.

Keep the later price report separate

MobileSyrup’s archive also lists a distinct Public Mobile price-increase report from March 2026, concerning increases of $2 to $4 per month. That later item is separate from the September 2025 report about a $3 increase for a small number of customers; the archive listing alone does not establish whether a reader’s account was affected by either event.
