OYO raised a reported $173.5 million in Series G funding in August 2024 at a $2.4 billion valuation, according to TechCrunch, citing multiple sources. Compared with the $10 billion valuation reported for OYO in 2019, that is a 76% decline. These are reported private-company financing valuations—not prices for publicly traded OYO shares.
What the 2024 funding report says
TechCrunch reported on August 11, 2024, that OYO raised $173.5 million in a Series G round at a $2.4 billion valuation. It identified Patient Capital, which is run by OYO founder and CEO Ritesh Agarwal, InCred Wealth, and J&A Partners as major sources of capital. The report attributed the financing details to multiple sources; they are not a public-market share price. TechCrunch’s August 2024 report
How the decline exceeds 75%
TechCrunch reported that OYO had been valued at $10 billion in 2019. A fall from $10 billion to $2.4 billion is $7.6 billion, or 76% of the 2019 figure. This calculation compares two reported private-company valuations; it does not mean OYO’s publicly traded stock lost 76%, because OYO was not being valued here through a public exchange price. Why June and August 2024 reports differ
The June article described OYO as finalizing a financing process, with an estimated $100 million to $125 million raise at a $2.5 billion valuation. It cited two people familiar with the matter. TechCrunch also reported that an InCred representative described the asset in a message as being “@70% discount to the previous valuation.” That was a pitch in a message viewed by the outlet, not an independent finding of fair value. The August report subsequently described a $173.5 million Series G at $2.4 billion. The June estimate and August financing report refer to different stages and reported terms; they should not be combined into a single deal description. In May 2024, an OYO spokesperson told TechCrunch, “There is no concrete transaction, let alone a valuation discussion at this stage,” in response to an earlier report. What can explain a lower private valuation?
The cited reporting establishes that different valuation figures were reported at different dates and in different contexts. It does not establish one proven cause for the decline from the 2019 figure. A funding valuation is negotiated for a particular financing and reflects that transaction’s terms and circumstances; it is not automatically a fresh, independent appraisal of every share or a continuously updated measure of company value. The June “discount” language was an investor-side pitch, not proof of why the valuation changed.
OYO’s business context is hospitality and property management. Its company-authored history says it launched OYO Rooms online in 2013, introduced dynamic pricing in 2016, launched OYO OS for property managers in 2018, and expanded to the US, Europe, and the Middle East in 2019. What “OYO’s valuation now” means
There is no single number in these reports that can be treated as a definitive current market value. The August 2024 figure is a reported private-round valuation; the January 2025 figure is listed by a third-party funding profile; and the 2026 figure is a reported target for a proposed IPO, subject to market conditions. Business Standard said the final IPO valuation would depend on those conditions. A proposed target is not the price at which public investors ultimately buy shares.
