No: the available evidence does not establish that Nintendo Switch 2 preorders are sold out everywhere. Standard-console bundles and the limited Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition are different offers, and stock depends on retailer, region, and when you check. Nintendo’s U.S. site lists a Mario Kart World bundle with a “Buy now” option, while a retailer report described Walmart taking preorders for the Zelda edition at the time of its report.
What is available in the United States?
Nintendo’s U.S. retail offers page lists the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle for $549.99, available through participating retailers while supplies last. Its Switch 2 product page shows “Buy now” for that bundle. These are official purchase paths, not confirmation that every listed retailer has inventory.

The same offers page lists a Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle for $529.99, with availability beginning October 22, 2026. Nintendo’s product page labels it “Pre-purchase now.” Retailer terms and stock apply, so check the retailer listing for the exact purchase conditions.
What about the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition?
The Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition is a separate limited-edition preorder, not the standard console or either bundle above. Tom’s Guide reported that Walmart was accepting preorders when its article was published; it said Best Buy, Target, and Nintendo.com were sold out, while Amazon had a listing but had not opened preorders. That is a retailer- and time-specific snapshot, not a live inventory check: see Tom’s Guide’s Zelda edition stock report for its context.

Where should you check?
- Identify the exact offer. Confirm whether you want the standard console, a bundle, or the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition. A sold-out notice for one does not establish the status of the others.
- Check Nintendo’s official pages. Review the U.S. retail offers and Switch 2 product page for current offers and retailer links.
- Check individual retailer listings. Nintendo Support names Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, GameStop, Target, Walmart, and other sellers on its retailer directory. The directory is not an inventory feed; open the listing for your model and verify whether it is available to buy, accepting preorders, or merely listed.
- For pickup, select your local store. National product pages may not reflect store-level stock. Check the selected location’s availability and recheck shortly before you travel or place an order.
Why “sold out everywhere” is hard to verify
“Everywhere” would require current checks across retailers, regions, editions, and local stores. A listing, a preorder button, an ordinary purchase option, and in-store pickup are different transaction states. Stock can change after a report is published, and a retailer’s sold-out notice applies to that retailer and offer—not automatically to every version of the console.
Availability also varies by country. GamesRadar’s Australian guide reported that the standard Switch 2 was generally available through several local retailers, while Amazon stock fluctuated and store availability varied. That regional report is not a U.S. stock check; see GamesRadar’s Australia guide.

What the sales figure does—and does not—tell you
Nintendo reported cumulative worldwide Switch 2 hardware sales of 23.68 million units as of June 30, 2026, in its hardware sales figures. That is a sales total through a stated date, not the number of units currently in stock or evidence that preorders are unavailable today.
