No official announcement reviewed says Nintendo is halting sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle because of rising memory costs. Nintendo announced regional availability for the bundle, while the Associated Press separately reported that rising memory-chip and component prices are putting pressure on Nintendo. The available reporting does not connect those costs to a decision to stop selling this specific bundle.
What Nintendo has announced about the bundle
Nintendo of America announced on Aug. 25, 2026, that the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle would be available in the United States starting in late September for a suggested retail price of $549.99. It includes a Switch 2 system, a full digital download of Mario Kart World, and a 90-day Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. Nintendo said the bundle represented a $37.98 saving against the suggested retail prices of the included items purchased separately, while cautioning that actual savings may vary and supply is limited. That announcement describes a launch and its terms; it does not say sales will be halted, identify an end date, or cite memory costs as a reason for ending the offer. It also does not establish current stock at any particular retailer.
U.S. bundle and standard-console prices
Nintendo said the standard Switch 2 system’s U.S. suggested retail price would be $499.99 as of Sept. 1, 2026. That is $50 less than the announced $549.99 bundle price before accounting for the included game and online membership. The $37.98 saving Nintendo cites compares the bundle with the suggested retail prices of all included items bought individually; it is not the difference between the bundle and the console alone.

Australia has a separate announced date
Nintendo Australia announced that the bundle would be available through Nintendo Store and select retailers from Oct. 29, 2026. The listed contents are a console, a Mario Kart World download code, and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. As of Oct. 8, that announced Australian date is still in the future. The Australian announcement does not state a price, so the U.S. price should not be applied there. Japan’s offer is different
Nintendo also announced a Japan-only Switch 2 Choose-Your-Game Bundle for Nov. 12, 2026, priced at 63,980 yen including tax. Buyers can choose one download from Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, or Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. This is a distinct offer, not evidence that the U.S. or Australian Mario Kart World bundle is being discontinued. Nintendo Co., Ltd.’s announcement

What rising memory costs do—and do not—show
The Associated Press reported that rising memory-chip and other component prices were among the pressures on Nintendo in its coverage of the company’s first-quarter results. The report discussed those costs alongside U.S. tariffs and broader business conditions; it did not say they caused Nintendo to halt this bundle. Associated Press coverage
The distinction matters: evidence that a company faces higher costs does not establish that it has ended a particular product offer, much less why. The official bundle announcements reviewed give regional availability information but no bundle-specific production-stop date, inventory total, or direct explanation linking memory prices to the bundle’s sales status.

How to check whether the bundle is available where you live
- Start with your region. The U.S. announcement gave a late-September 2026 availability window; Nintendo Australia announced Oct. 29, 2026. These dates and offers are not interchangeable.
- Check Nintendo’s regional announcement and store. For Australia, Nintendo named Nintendo Store and select retailers. For the United States, check Nintendo’s current regional listing and retailer pages for live availability.
- Compare the actual listing, not just the announcement price. Nintendo says supply is limited and actual savings may vary. Retailer stock and prices can change, and an announced suggested retail price is not confirmation of current inventory.
- Decide whether the included items suit you. The U.S. offer includes a digital game and a 90-day Individual Membership. Compare the bundle with buying a standard console and only the extras you actually want.
What the sales figures can tell you
Nintendo Investor Relations reported cumulative worldwide sales of 23.68 million Switch 2 hardware units and 58.17 million software units as of June 30, 2026. Those are platform-wide totals, not figures for the Mario Kart World bundle, and they do not show whether Nintendo has stopped producing or selling that specific package.
