PerthNow reported the launch on 28 December 2023; that report does not confirm current Australian stock or distribution.
What is Menstrupedia?
Menstrupedia is an illustrated, comic-style resource designed to explain periods and puberty in accessible language. Its publisher describes content on menstruation, tracking periods, hygiene and myths, and lists printed and digital formats. Those are publisher descriptions, not an independent assessment of the guide.
The publisher also says the content is reviewed by an expert gynaecologist. The material reviewed here does not establish an independent clinical evaluation or measured health outcomes.
Who brought the guide to Australia?
PerthNow reported that Perth-based Sona Gupta, founder of Edora, began the effort after a younger cousin asked her about menstruation. Gupta realised she could not answer all the questions and encountered Menstrupedia while looking for a resource. She then contacted its Indian author, Aditi Gupta, about adapting the guide for Australian readers.

Aditi Gupta is the original guide’s author; Menstrupedia identifies her as a co-founder and managing partner.
What does the Australian adaptation cover?
PerthNow described a story following three girls and covering practical questions about periods. The article said topics included:
Rank #2
- Managing periods at school.
- Using pads and tampons.
- Recognising and managing premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
- Knowing when to seek medical advice.
This is the scope reported at the time of the launch story, rather than confirmation of the contents of any edition currently for sale.
What role did Edora intend the book to play?
Gupta told PerthNow that the aim was for the book to be a “friendly companion” and to help young girls take agency over their education. She also said it was intended to open conversations at home and encourage children to speak more openly with parents. Those comments describe the intended role of the resource; the report does not provide evidence measuring its effects.
Is Menstrupedia available in Australia now?
Current availability cannot be inferred from the 2023 launch report. Menstrupedia’s publisher lists print and digital products, while the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia’s listing has prompted visitors to request an email notification when the book is back in stock. Stock and prices can change, so check the seller’s current listing before relying on it. The foundation page is not evidence of Amazon availability or of current local distribution of the Australian adaptation.
The Western Australian Government’s GDHR resource catalogue includes Menstrupedia Comic among book and online resources for period and puberty education. A catalogue listing shows inclusion as a resource; it is not an endorsement of every claim or a clinical evaluation.
