The club identifies Redwood Holdings Limited as its owner, following its 2025 takeover. The official records reviewed do not name a new consortium or establish that a fresh sale is under way.
Who owns Reading FC now?
Reading FC announced on 3 May 2025 that it had agreed a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited. The club said the transaction included the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. The club’s company-details page identifies Redwood Holdings Limited as its owner and lists Robert Emmett Couhig Jnr and Todd Trosclair as directors.
Companies House records Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd as the active person with significant control of THE READING FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED, holding 75% or more of its shares and voting rights. These are related but distinct company names: Redwood Holdings Limited is the owner named by the club, while Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd is the entity recorded as having significant control. Companies House says it does not verify the accuracy of information filed with it.
Companies House lists THE READING FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED (company number 00053703) as active. Its filing history includes group accounts made up to 30 June 2025, filed on 30 March 2026, and a charge created on 5 May 2026 and registered on 13 May 2026. A charge filing is a company-register entry; by itself, it does not establish that a new takeover bid exists.

What is known about the US-Saudi consortium claim?
The official club, company-register and EFL material reviewed does not identify a US-Saudi consortium, name prospective members, describe a bid or confirm that a new transaction is under way. On that evidence, the claim remains unverified. The identity of any consortium members and whether they have made an approach are not established.
It is important to distinguish a rumour or approach from agreed sale terms, regulatory approval and a completed change of control. The club’s 3 May 2025 announcement described the Redwood transaction as a “sale in principle”; that wording relates to that 2025 announcement, not evidence of a current proposal.

Why a dissolved Reading company does not mean the club has closed
Companies House dissolved a separate entity, READING F.C. LIMITED (company number 05885732), by compulsory strike-off on 29 September 2026. That is not the same company as THE READING FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED (00053703), which the register lists as active. The two records should not be conflated.
What approvals would a new owner need?
The EFL says acquisitions of control are subject to both EFL requirements and those of the Independent Football Regulator (IFR). Its guidance says the IFR’s Owners, Directors and Senior Executives regime began on 5 May 2026 and requires approval before a person becomes an owner or takes a specified senior role. A reported approach, even if established, would not by itself prove that approvals had been granted or control had changed.

Does Reading’s financial-regulation history confirm a current embargo?
No. On 27 March 2025, Reading FC said it had submitted its 2022/23 accounts and that the associated transfer embargo had lifted. The club also warned that missing the EFL deadline for its 2023/24 accounts could result in another embargo. That was a dated statement and does not establish the club’s current embargo status.

A reliable update should identify the prospective buyer and distinguish what has actually happened from what remains under discussion. Look for a dated statement from the club or buyer, a regulator announcement, or independently reported coverage that names its sources and describes the proposal’s status. The key details are:
Rank #4
- Regular fit Crewneck 100% polyester (recycled) AEROREADY Liverpool FC woven crest
- Who the buyer or consortium members are and how the proposed purchase would be funded.
- Whether there has been only an approach, an offer, agreed terms or a completed sale.
- Which club or property assets the proposal includes.
- Whether EFL and IFR requirements have been met.
Until attributable reporting or official records establish those details, Redwood Holdings remains the owner identified by Reading FC, and the US-Saudi consortium claim should not be treated as a confirmed takeover.
