What did Netflix reportedly consider buying?
Bloomberg reported that Netflix management debated pursuing several major assets, including EA, Fox and Disney. Insider Gaming and GameSpot summarized that reporting on December 8, 2025. Their accounts characterize the ideas as internal deliberations; neither reports a formal bid or transaction.

The distinction matters: considering a possible acquisition is not the same as making an offer. The reports say Netflix executives could not agree on a deal, and the available summaries do not establish that Netflix tried to buy any of the companies. Insider Gaming’s summary and GameSpot’s report attribute the account to Bloomberg.
Did Netflix make an offer, and when were the discussions?
The cited summaries do not report an offer from Netflix for EA, Disney or Fox. They also do not give a date or period for Netflix’s internal discussions. GameSpot specifically notes that Bloomberg did not specify when the acquisitions were considered. The December 8, 2025 date is the publication date of the summary, not a confirmed date for the deliberations.

How does the separate Disney–EA story fit?
Netflix’s reported consideration of Disney and EA is separate from a 2023 report about Disney’s own gaming strategy. GameSpot reported on October 11, 2023, that some Disney executives urged CEO Bob Iger to consider a “bolder transformation,” with buying EA offered as a possible example. Iger was described as noncommittal. That report does not establish that Disney made an offer for EA, either. GameSpot’s 2023 account covers that separate discussion.

EA’s SEC-filed fiscal 2023 report describes live services and additional content as significant to its business, and discusses competition and consolidation in interactive entertainment. That provides industry context for why a large games publisher could be strategically important. It does not explain Netflix’s reported thinking or establish its motives. EA’s fiscal 2023 filing with the SEC is the source for that company-reported context.
