The widely reported JazzCash and Easypaisa biometric deadline was October 25, 2025—not a verified new deadline for October 2026. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) did set a three-month compliance period for regulated institutions under its July 2025 onboarding framework, but the accessible circular does not establish that every existing wallet had to be re-verified by that date or would automatically be blocked. No reliable count supports the headline claim that “millions” of accounts were at risk.
What the October 2025 deadline claim actually means
Reports published in October 2025 said customers who had not completed biometric verification could face restrictions after October 25. Pixel Pakistan’s report, last updated October 27, 2025, and TechJuice’s October 2025 coverage describe that deadline and possible disruption. Neither provides an attributable count of JazzCash or Easypaisa accounts actually restricted, nor evidence that every existing wallet was covered. Pixel Pakistan’s report and TechJuice’s report should therefore be read as secondary reporting about a regulatory interpretation, not as proof of mass account freezes.
As of October 8, 2026, the sources reviewed do not establish a current blanket biometric deadline for JazzCash or Easypaisa. Account requirements and provider procedures can change, so a report about the 2025 date does not establish your account’s status today.
What SBP’s July 2025 circular says—and does not say
SBP’s BPRD Circular No. 1 of 2025, dated July 25, 2025, consolidated account-opening and customer-onboarding instructions into a framework. It told SBP-regulated entities to comply within three months of issuance: “SBP REs are advised to ensure meticulous compliance of the above instructions within 03 months from date of issuance of this Circular.” That is a compliance period for regulated entities, not by itself a customer-level grace period to re-verify every wallet.

The circular’s accessible text does not confirm the broader claims that all existing accounts had to undergo fresh biometrics, that all customers had exactly 60 days, or that every noncompliant wallet would automatically be barred from sending and receiving money. The full framework linked from the circular was not accessible in the reviewed material, so its precise customer-level scope cannot be established here. Read the SBP circular and framework notice for the regulator’s published material.
Is there evidence that millions of accounts are affected?
No verified figure for unverified or blocked JazzCash and Easypaisa accounts appears in the sources reviewed. “Millions” is not a measured count of accounts at risk, customers notified, or wallets restricted. A separate January 2026 National Assembly committee release refers to a planned BISP digital-wallet initiative targeting ten million beneficiaries; that figure concerns a different program and says nothing about the number of existing JazzCash or Easypaisa accounts affected by the 2025 biometric reports. What to do if you receive a biometric verification request
- Open the official app or contact a verified provider channel. Check the account-specific message in the JazzCash or Easypaisa app, or ask verified support or an authorized service point whether action is required for your wallet.
- Confirm the particulars before acting. Ask which account type the notice covers, the exact deadline, what transactions may be restricted, and where the requirement is published. Do not treat a general deadline story or social-media post as confirmation of your own account status.
- Use only an official verification route. Do not share account credentials or identity details through an unverified link or caller. If a request seems suspicious, verify it independently through the provider’s official channels.
- Keep the notice and any response. Save the provider’s message or support reference so you can follow up if the issue remains unresolved.
If your CNIC is expired or you are outside Pakistan
Expired CNIC
NADRA warns that an expired identity card may adversely affect services connected to it, including bank accounts and mobile services. This is a separate identity-document issue; it does not establish that every wallet holder was subject to the October 2025 biometric deadline. Check NADRA’s official renewal guidance and ask your provider whether the document’s status affects your particular account.
Non-resident or temporarily overseas Pakistanis
SBP’s 2019 instructions allow banks and development finance institutions, in defined circumstances, to use fresh NADRA Verisys instead of biometrics for non-resident Pakistanis and Pakistanis temporarily outside the country. Customers must provide relevant identity and travel or residency evidence; the temporary-absence route is time-limited. This is a conditional allowance, not a guaranteed option for every wallet. Contact your bank or provider to confirm whether it applies to your case. See SBP’s 2019 instructions.

Provider status and what the rules do not establish
SBP declared Easypaisa Bank Limited a scheduled bank effective January 23, 2025. That regulatory status does not, on its own, prove that every Easypaisa wallet faced the reported re-verification deadline. The October 2025 coverage also named JazzCash, but the sources reviewed did not confirm a current provider-specific blanket notice for either service. SBP’s notice on Easypaisa Bank Limited
