The Mesa Homeowners Card program closed on December 12, 2025. Mesa said all accounts were closed, cards deactivated, and new purchases and Mesa Points earning stopped. Cardholders should check their account communications for any remaining balance or points-redemption options.
What happened to the Mesa Homeowners Card?
Mesa’s closure notice, reported by TechCrunch on December 14, 2025, said that effective December 12, “all Mesa Homeowners Card accounts are closed” and “All credit cards have been deactivated and you are no longer able to make any new purchases or earn Mesa Points.”

Mesa’s FAQ described the closure as “a business decision to close the Mesa Homeowners Card Program entirely,” rather than a decision based on an individual cardholder’s credit status or payment history. Mesa’s statement does not establish the status of every customer’s account or any individual balance.
What the card offered before it closed
Mesa launched the card in November 2024 and positioned it around expenses associated with owning a home. The rewards categories included mortgage payments, gas, groceries, homeowners association (HOA) fees, utilities, and home goods. CEO Kelley Halpin told TechCrunch, “So it’s not rewarding you on travel and dining spend; it’s rewarding you on gas, groceries, your HOA, utilities, home goods as well as your mortgage payment.” Mesa also offered mortgage products.

What former cardholders should check
- Recurring charges: Since the card is deactivated, review subscriptions and other recurring payments that were charged to it, and update the payment method with each merchant.
- Account balance and obligations: Check issuer and Mesa notices for any balance, payment instructions, or other account-specific information. The published closure notice does not resolve individual account obligations.
- Remaining points: TechCrunch reported a statement-credit redemption option valued at 0.6 cents per point. That is a reported option, not confirmation that it remains available to every former cardholder. Check your account notices or Mesa’s current support channel before relying on it.
What card earns rewards on mortgage payments now?
Bilt’s official materials now describe mortgage rewards through its live Card 2.0 program; this is no longer merely a planned 2026 feature. Eligibility and earning mechanics depend on the mortgage servicer, payment method, card, and reward option. Bilt says eligible mortgage payments through its program have no transaction fee, but that does not mean every servicer or payment workflow qualifies.
Bilt’s UWM mortgage payment instructions, updated August 12, 2026, list ACH, debit card, another credit card, and Bilt Card as payment methods, with different fees and rewards. For Bilt Card payments in that UWM workflow, Bilt describes up to 1.25X points with the housing-only option, or the use of Bilt Cash to unlock points with the flexible option. Those details apply to the documented UWM process; confirm that your own servicer and payment method are eligible.
Bilt’s support materials also say housing payments are withdrawn from the linked bank account rather than charged to the card’s credit line. Before choosing a replacement, compare servicer eligibility, payment fees, how everyday card spending affects housing rewards, and the card’s annual fee and credit terms. Verify current terms directly with the provider.
