Meesho’s $606M IPO Pops on Debut as India’s Startup IPO Market Heats Up

Meesho’s shares opened at ₹162.50 on December 10, 2025, against an IPO price of ₹111, and reached an intraday high of ₹171.84, TechCrunch reported. That first-day “pop” was a debut-day result—not a current share price or a forecast. The ₹54.21 billion offering included ₹42.50 billion in new shares for Meesho and ₹11.71 billion in shares sold by existing holders.

What Meesho’s IPO raised—and who received the money

Meesho’s December 5, 2025 prospectus set the offer price at ₹111 per share and the total offer at ₹54,212.04 million, or about ₹54.21 billion. The total comprised two distinct parts:

  • Fresh issue: ₹42,500 million. This was new capital raised for Meesho.
  • Offer for sale: ₹11,712.04 million. Existing shareholders sold shares, so those proceeds went to the sellers rather than to the company.

The dollar figure of $606 million was reported by TechCrunch for the offering. The rupee amounts in the prospectus clarify why the total offer size should not be treated as the amount of fresh funding Meesho received. Meesho’s prospectus

What happened on Meesho’s listing day

Trading began on the NSE and BSE on December 10, 2025, according to Meesho’s Q3 FY26 shareholder letter. TechCrunch reported an opening price of ₹162.50, about 46% above the ₹111 issue price, and a high of ₹171.84 that day. These figures describe the first day of trading only; they do not establish a later price or the return earned by investors who bought at different times.

At the listing ceremony, TechCrunch reported, co-founder and CEO Vidit Aatrey said: “But today, for me at Meesho, for everyone at Meesho, this ringing basically means that our mission is not just our mission. Now it’s everyone’s mission.” TechCrunch’s December 10, 2025 report Meesho’s Q3 FY26 shareholder letter

What growth figures were available around the IPO

TechCrunch, citing the prospectus, reported that Meesho’s revenue was ₹55.78 billion for the six months ended September 30, 2025, compared with ₹43.11 billion in the same period a year earlier. It also reported net merchandise value (NMV) of ₹191.94 billion for that six-month period, up 44% year over year.

Those period-specific figures indicate growth in revenue and merchandise value; by themselves, they do not establish profitability, cash generation, or the future performance of the shares. They are half-year figures, not full-year results.

What the IPO response said about India’s market in December 2025

Meesho drew bids worth about $28 billion, Reuters reported on December 5, 2025. Reuters also cited LSEG data showing that more than 300 Indian IPOs had raised $19.26 billion through early December. The report said 2025 fundraising was on track to exceed the prior year’s record.

This is evidence of a busy market and strong demand for Meesho’s offering at that time, not proof that enthusiasm would persist or that the debut price would hold. Oversubscription and a first-day rise do not predict subsequent share performance. Reuters via MarketScreener, December 5, 2025

Later scale metrics: the company’s update through June 30, 2026

Meesho’s investor-relations page later displayed these company-reported metrics for the twelve months ended June 30, 2026:

  • 274 million-plus annual transacting users
  • 1.04 million-plus annual transacting sellers
  • 2.83 billion-plus placed orders

The company describes itself as India’s largest e-commerce platform by annual transacting users and placed orders; that superlative is Meesho’s own claim. These later scale figures are separate from the IPO-period financial measures and were not information available to IPO subscribers in December 2025. Meesho Investor Relations

How to assess the IPO without treating the debut as a recommendation

A listing-day surge is one market observation, not a complete investment case. When comparing Meesho with another IPO or a listed company, consider the following separately:

  • Use of the offer proceeds: distinguish fresh capital for the company from secondary shares sold by existing holders.
  • Operating growth: examine revenue and order-value trends over clearly defined periods.
  • Scale: consider users, sellers, and orders alongside how those measures are defined and dated.
  • Financial resilience: review profitability and cash generation, rather than inferring either from growth figures alone.
  • Price and risk: compare the offer valuation with current market data and read the prospectus risk disclosures. A current price or valuation requires up-to-date market information.
