MassChallenge Switzerland opened applications for its 2025 Early-Stage Startup Accelerator on January 15, with a March 5 deadline. That application window has closed, and the program concluded with awards in October 2025. The launch offered startups from any sector mentoring, expert advice and non-dilutive awards; later, the organizer reported that 103 startups had been selected. Anyone seeking a current opportunity should check MassChallenge Switzerland’s official application information, since the 2025 dates do not establish whether a 2026 program is open.

What was the MassChallenge Switzerland 2025 accelerator?

It was the tenth edition of MassChallenge Switzerland’s Early-Stage Startup Accelerator, a four-month program for startups. The January 2025 announcement said applications were open to startups with solutions in any sector, while highlighting three focus tracks: Sustainable Food, Sustainable & Efficient Industry, and HealthTech.

At launch, MassChallenge Switzerland said the program had accelerated 950 startups since 2016, which had raised CHF 2 billion and generated more than 59,000 direct and indirect jobs. These were the organizer’s cumulative figures as reported in January 2025. In an October retrospective, it reported a later cumulative total of 1,175 startups supported over ten years, CHF 2.9 billion raised, and 86,400 jobs. The two sets of figures come from different dates and scopes and should not be treated as a single contemporaneous measurement.

When could startups apply?

Applications opened January 15, 2025, and closed March 5, 2025. Both dates have passed. MassChallenge Switzerland announced the selected cohort on June 2, 2025; its October 2025 retrospective reported the program’s award results.

The historical announcement does not establish whether a successor accelerator is accepting applications now. Prospective applicants should use the organizer’s current official application information rather than rely on the closed 2025 deadline.

What support and awards did the 2025 program advertise?

Mentors and expert advice

The launch announcement said participants would be mentored by around 15 corporate partners and receive advice from over 400 experts. The named partners included Bühler, dsm-firmenich, Eisberg, Givaudan, Louis Dreyfus Company, Novonesis, Omya, PMI, SMC, and Südzucker. The figures “around 15” and “over 400” reflect the organizer’s announcement, not independently audited totals.

Non-dilutive prizes

MassChallenge Switzerland advertised more than CHF 500,000 in cash prizes, along with in-kind awards. The announcement described the prizes as non-dilutive: recipients would not give up equity in exchange for those awards. This launch figure was a competition announcement, not the final prize total reported after the program.

What was the LDC Climate Resilience Prize?

The LDC Climate Resilience Prize was a separate award presented alongside the accelerator, created by MassChallenge Switzerland and Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC). Its 2025 prize page described an unconditional, non-dilutive CHF 100,000 award for a startup with promising climate impact in food and agriculture. It could be awarded in addition to accelerator cash prizes.

The prize page described workshops, resources and coaching to help quantify climate resilience, as well as connections with investors and LDC decision-makers and possible discussions about scaling a solution. It scheduled the award announcement for the MassChallenge Switzerland awards in Lausanne on October 30, 2025. The materials described a prize route for later-stage startups, but the available announcement does not establish the detailed eligibility requirements; consult the historical application materials for those specifics.

What happened after applications closed?

Cohort selection

On June 2, 2025, MassChallenge Switzerland announced that 103 early-stage startups had been selected for the four-month program.

Final awards

In its October 31 retrospective, MassChallenge Switzerland reported that 12 winning startups shared CHF 400,000 in equity-free cash prizes. It also reported that 15 cash prizes and 13 in-kind prizes were awarded, with their combined value exceeding CHF 600,000. These are the organizer’s reported results; they are distinct from the launch announcement’s “more than CHF 500,000” in cash prizes.

The retrospective named IBISA as the recipient of the CHF 100,000 LDC Climate Resilience Prize for its satellite-based parametric insurance solution.

What should founders take away from the 2025 announcement?

  • The 2025 accelerator application window is over; its deadline was March 5, 2025.
  • The general accelerator was open to startups in any sector, with three highlighted focus tracks.
  • The program advertised corporate mentoring, advice from experts and non-dilutive awards, without taking equity in exchange for the described prizes.
  • The separate LDC award focused on climate resilience in food and agriculture and offered CHF 100,000.
  • The reported outcomes were 103 selected startups and, among the named award recipients, IBISA for the LDC prize.

All cohort and outcome figures above are reported by MassChallenge Switzerland in its 2025 announcements and retrospective; they are not presented as independently audited totals. For another application cycle, rely on the organizer’s live program information rather than assume that the 2025 structure or dates will recur.
