MSC Cruises says it has ordered two more World Class ships, planned for delivery in 2030 and 2031. The company values the orders at €3.5 billion; its November 12, 2025 announcement does not state a $4 billion price or provide a dollar-conversion method.
What MSC Cruises announced
MSC Cruises and French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique announced orders for World Class ships 7 and 8 on November 12, 2025. MSC put the value of the two orders at €3.5 billion. The orders are subject to access to financing; the announcement does not disclose financing terms or say whether the condition has since been satisfied.
MSC also said its current orders with Chantiers de l’Atlantique during 2025 totaled nearly €7 billion. Both figures are values reported by MSC, not independent estimates. MSC’s November 12, 2025 announcement
Why the headline’s dollar figure needs context
The primary announcement gives the value in euros: €3.5 billion. It does not call the orders worth $4 billion or specify an exchange rate or conversion date. A dollar equivalent would depend on the exchange rate used, so the euro figure is the one directly supported by the announcement.

MSC made the announcement during a double celebration: the float-out of MSC World Asia and the coin ceremony for MSC World Atlantic. Those dates were plans stated in 2025, not confirmation of later delivery or sailing status.
