The club named Redwood as its buyer in a sale-in-principle announcement on 3 May 2025; its current company-details page lists Redwood as the entire owner of Reading Football Club Limited. The May announcement was not itself confirmation of completion.
Who bought Reading FC?
Reading Football Club announced on 3 May 2025 that it had agreed a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited. The club identified Redwood as a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, owned by Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair. The announcement said the transaction included the club, Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. Reading FC’s 3 May 2025 statement described formal completion as subject to final legal technicalities and expected shortly.
Has the takeover completed?
Yes. Reading FC later announced that Redwood had completed its takeover. The club’s current company-details page lists Reading Football Club Limited as owned in its entirety by Redwood Holdings Limited, with Robert Emmett Couhig Jnr and Todd Trosclair listed as directors. The completion announcement does not state an exact completion date.
How the takeover process unfolded
Exclusivity: 7 October 2024
Reading FC said it had entered an exclusivity period with a potential purchaser. The proposed sale included Dai Yongge’s shareholding in the club company, the stadium and Bearwood Park. The club also reported an EFL registration embargo over the late filing of its 2022/23 accounts. The 7 October 2024 statement did not name the potential purchaser.

Exclusivity continued: 27 March 2025
The club said exclusivity remained in place and the proposal still covered the club, stadium and training facility. It also said it had submitted its 2022/23 accounts to Companies House, lifting the associated transfer embargo. The 27 March 2025 statement still did not announce a buyer.
Sale in principle: 3 May 2025
Reading FC named Redwood Holdings Limited as the buyer in a sale-in-principle announcement. This was a significant step, but the club said formal completion remained subject to final legal technicalities.
Completed takeover
The club subsequently announced completion, and its company-details page now records Redwood as the club company’s entire owner. The stages matter: exclusivity indicated negotiations with a potential purchaser, the May announcement named a buyer and sale in principle, and the later announcement confirmed completion.
