K-Electric announced on 24 March 2026 that its board had appointed Syed Taha as chief executive officer, with the appointment scheduled to take effect on 15 April. The company’s filing named interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad as the person Taha would replace. The notice establishes the appointment plan, but does not by itself confirm that Taha took charge or establish his current position at K-Electric.

What K-Electric announced

K-Electric’s notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange said the board had appointed Taha as the company’s new CEO. The announcement date was 24 March 2026; the stated effective date was 15 April 2026. The filing identified interim CEO Adeeb Ahmad as his predecessor. K-Electric’s filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange

Those dates describe different events: the board’s announcement came in March, while 15 April was the date the company said the appointment would take effect.

Who is Syed Taha?

At the time K-Electric announced the appointment, its filing described Taha as managing director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), a position he had held since February 2020. K-Electric also cited his earlier service at the utility as Chief Distribution Officer and his executive-director role at Oasis Energy, where he led the Program Management Office of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria. PSO’s announcement when Taha took charge in 2020 says he had previously held roles at the company in Corporate Affairs, Retail Fuel, Cards Business and Corporate Planning. It also lists work at Shell Pakistan, Caltex Pakistan and Pakistan Steel Mills from 1993 to 1999, as well as a senior distribution operating role at K-Electric. These are biographical details published by PSO at the time of his appointment there, not independent evaluations of his performance. PSO’s 2020 announcement

What the dates establish—and what they do not

PSO announced on 13 April 2026 that Jawwad Ahmed Cheema would become its CEO for a three-year term effective 18 May 2026, succeeding interim CEO Abdus Sami. That notice records PSO’s succession plan; it does not independently verify that Taha began work as K-Electric’s CEO on 15 April. PSO’s announcement of Cheema’s appointment

The available notices confirm K-Electric’s announcement and its planned effective date, but do not confirm that Taha actually assumed the K-Electric role or establish his status there as of October 2026. Readers should therefore distinguish the announced appointment from a confirmed later start.

What Taha said when he joined PSO

In a statement issued on 26 February 2020, when he took charge as PSO’s MD and CEO, Taha said he saw growth potential in fuel and non-fuel retail and lubricants, while acknowledging the company’s receivables as a chronic problem. He also said PSO would pursue growth in market share and profitability and consider diversification. These remarks concerned his PSO leadership role in 2020; they were not a statement about his K-Electric appointment. PSO’s 2020 announcement
