TheWrap quoted Las Vegas nightlife expert Jack Colton, creator of JackColton.com, estimating an average New Year’s Eve fee of $100,000 for “relevant talent.” He said an A-list celebrity could reach $250,000 and a major booking could go as high as $1 million. What did Tao charge guests, and what does the ticket math show?
NPR/KERA reported an opening ticket price of $225 for the 2011 Tao party. The ticket reportedly included an open bar from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., passed hors d’oeuvres, a midnight champagne toast and access to LAVO after midnight. NPR/KERA cited a reported venue capacity of nearly 1,400 and used an assumed 1,000 paying attendees to illustrate $225,000 in ticket sales. That was an example calculation—not confirmed attendance, actual gross revenue or profit. Ticket sales alone also do not establish how a venue paid for an appearance package.
NPR/KERA also recounted, citing the Las Vegas Sun, that Kardashian was reportedly paid $500,000 for the previous year’s New Year’s Eve appearance and additional appearances. That earlier figure was also reported rather than established by a contract.
