Karrinyup Shopping Centre’s West Deck officially opened on 28 October 2021, completing the final stage of the centre’s major redevelopment. Its launch brought together restaurants, bars and leisure attractions in an open-air precinct—not a conventional food court. When did West Deck open?
The official opening took place on 28 October 2021. Project architect TRCB says the event marked the completion of the redevelopment’s final stage, after nearly a decade of planning, design and delivery. Earlier in October, other parts of the centre, including The Café Terrace, had launched; West Deck’s dining and entertainment venues were scheduled to open from 28 October onwards.

The wider redevelopment was described by TRCB as an $800 million project. Shopping Centre News reported that it expanded the centre from 59,874m² to 109,000m² and brought the total to 290 stores and venues. The same outlet reported approximately 2,500 construction jobs and a further 2,500 retail, support and management jobs expected once the centre was complete. These are figures reported about the project, not independently audited employment outcomes.
What was new at West Deck?
West Deck was presented as a dining and entertainment precinct with a mix of local and national operators. Karrinyup’s current description calls it an open-air destination for restaurants and bars, including long lunches and late-night bites. At launch, PerthNow reported more than 20 neighbours in the precinct.

Good Company pub
Good Company was the headline pub opening and Three Pound Group’s fourth venue, according to PerthNow. The group described it as distinct from its other pubs, pairing pub classics such as parmis and pizzas with Mediterranean-leaning dishes, salads, cocktails, live music and DJs. Those details describe the concept promoted at launch, not a guarantee of today’s menu or entertainment schedule.

What could visitors do besides eat?
Entertainment was part of the opening proposition. The launch lineup promoted Holey Moley Golf Club, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, described in PerthNow’s launch coverage as WA’s first Archie Brothers venue. The arcade concept was presented as including dodgem cars, virtual-reality games, and modern and retro arcade games. These are launch-era descriptions; check current attraction listings and availability before making plans.

PerthNow also reported a 950-square-metre children’s play area called The Cubby. The redevelopment brief, as described by TRCB, aimed to make the centre a community hub with cinemas, restaurants, playgrounds and a main street. TRCB also identified the first 10-screen HOYTS Cinema north of the river as part of the development.

The centre’s published general hours are Monday to Wednesday 9am–5:30pm, Thursday 9am–9pm, Friday 9am–5:30pm, Saturday 9am–5pm and Sunday 11am–5pm. Retailer and venue hours vary, so check the individual listing before visiting; attraction schedules, menus and booking requirements can differ from the centre’s general hours.
