Not as an established fact. A June 2025 report attributed the claim that unfinished prenuptial papers changed Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding plans to an unnamed insider. Bezos had publicly denied the widely circulated report of a December 28, 2024, Aspen wedding, and the couple ultimately married in Venice on June 27, 2025. No public evidence establishes that prenup negotiations caused a delay.
Where the prenup-delay claim came from
Futurism reported that Vanity Fair’s June 2025 wedding coverage relayed an unnamed insider’s account linking changed Aspen plans to prenuptial papers that were not ready. Fortune also described the alleged delay as insider reporting. Neither account is a public confirmation from Bezos or Sánchez that a prenup caused a scheduling change.
That distinction matters: the claim was reported, but its cause has not been independently established in the available coverage. A private planning conversation or negotiation cannot be verified simply because the couple later married somewhere else.
What Bezos said about the Aspen wedding report
On December 22, 2024, Bezos rejected a widely circulated report that he and Sánchez would marry in Aspen on December 28, including its claim of a $600 million event. As quoted by Mediaite, he wrote: “this whole thing is completely false — none of this is happening.” Vanity Fair later described the holiday Aspen wedding rumors as ultimately false.
#1 Best Overall
His statement addressed the specific public report. It does not disclose whether the couple privately considered other plans, and it does not substantiate the separate allegation that prenup papers affected timing. The evidence supports neither treating an Aspen booking as confirmed nor stating that prenup talks forced a postponement.
What is confirmed about the wedding and the prenup
The Associated Press reported that Venice confirmed it would host the wedding on March 29, 2025, without giving a date in that statement. The AP later reported that Bezos and Sánchez held their ceremony there on June 27, 2025. The ceremony is documented; it does not explain why any earlier rumors or private plans changed.

Vanity Fair said a complex prenuptial agreement had reportedly been drawn up. That reporting does not make the contract public or establish its provisions. No terms, negotiation details, or definitive cause for a scheduling decision are confirmed in the cited coverage.

Why prior divorce coverage does not prove the claim
Fortune noted that Bezos and MacKenzie Scott divorced in 2019 without a prenup and quoted divorce attorney Robert Cohen discussing why high-profile couples may seek legal protections. Cohen’s remarks were general context, not inside information about Bezos and Sánchez or their negotiations. Prior divorce circumstances may help explain why readers speculate about a prenup, but they cannot establish this agreement’s existence, contents, or role in setting a wedding date.
