Bloomberg’s account cited people familiar with the matter, so the figure is best described as a reported agreement price rather than an independently verified deed amount.
What was reported about the $79 million purchase?
Bloomberg reported on October 12, 2023, that Bezos had agreed to pay $79 million for the property. The home had been listed for $85 million in May 2023; Bloomberg said the reported agreement price was 7.1% below that asking price. The report attributed its transaction information to people with knowledge of the matter.
The Miami Herald described the mansion as having seven bedrooms and 14 bathrooms on a 1.84-acre lot. The house is on Indian Creek, a man-made barrier island on Biscayne Bay in the Miami area. The Associated Press also located Bezos’s homes on the island.
How it fit into Bezos’s Indian Creek purchases
The $79 million mansion was not his first reported purchase on the island. The Miami Herald reported that Bezos had bought the neighboring waterfront home for $68 million about two months earlier in 2023. The AP likewise described the second purchase as following the neighboring-home acquisition by roughly two months.

Later coverage reported another purchase on Indian Creek: in June 2025, Realtor.com reported that Bezos had bought a third home there in 2024 for $87 million. That later transaction is separate from the 2023 mansion reported at $79 million. Realtor.com’s 2025 report provides that subsequent portfolio context.
What the seller’s later lawsuit alleged
In 2024, Realtor.com reported that seller Leo Kryss sued Douglas Elliman, alleging the brokerage misled him about the buyer’s identity. The article attributes claims about an entity connected to Bezos to the lawsuit. Those are allegations described in the reporting, not a court finding established by that article. Read the report on the lawsuit.

What is and is not independently established
The cited coverage establishes what outlets reported about the price, property and timing, but it does not provide an official Miami-Dade deed record or a direct confirmation from Bezos of the transaction terms. Bloomberg’s original account relied on people familiar with the matter, and later outlets reported the same purchase. Accordingly, the $79 million figure should be attributed to that reporting rather than presented as a public-record amount independently confirmed here.
