That incentive may lower a lease quote, but it does not make every ID.4 lease “super affordable”: a current Bakersfield listing advertises $590.42 a month for 36 months and $5,416.42 due at signing. Your actual cost depends on local pricing, upfront cash, mileage, taxes, fees, and eligibility.
What Volkswagen’s current ID.4 incentive covers
Volkswagen of America lists a $6,000 customer bonus for a new, unused 2026 ID.4 leased or purchased through a participating U.S. dealer from September 1 through November 2, 2026. The bonus is applied toward the lease or purchase, is not redeemable for cash, and is unavailable for Fleet or Dealership Sale Program vehicles. Confirm that the vehicle and your transaction qualify, and ask the dealer to show the bonus as a separate line on the written quote. Volkswagen’s offers page
The same page lists a $12,500 bonus on new, unused 2025 ID.4 inventory through November 2, 2026, while warning that inventory is very limited. That does not establish that a 2025 vehicle is available near you or that you qualify for the offer.
What one advertised lease actually costs
A Volkswagen Bakersfield listing accessed October 8, 2026, advertises a 2026 ID.4 Pro with a $48,265 MSRP for $590.42 per month over 36 months, with $5,416.42 due at signing. The listing gives an adjusted capitalized cost of $34,760 and says the due-at-signing amount includes the first payment and $4,826 down, with no security deposit. The advertised payment assumes 7,500 miles per year. The listing states a charge of up to $0.20 per mile over that allowance, maintenance responsibility, a possible disposition fee, and a purchase option of $22,114.25. Taxes, title, registration, license, other government fees, and finance charges are excluded or calculated at signing. Request the complete quote and lease terms to see which amounts apply to you.
How to tell whether a local quote is affordable
Do not compare lease offers by monthly payment alone. For the Bakersfield example, the scheduled payments total $21,254.12 over 36 months; adding the advertised $5,416.42 due at signing gives $26,670.54 in scheduled payments and upfront cash, before excluded taxes, fees, and any end-of-lease charges. This arithmetic is specific to that listing and does not include optional costs or charges that depend on how the vehicle is used.

Ask each dealer for the same term and annual mileage, with these items in writing:
- The negotiated vehicle price and adjusted capitalized cost.
- The manufacturer bonus and any other incentive, itemized separately.
- Total due at signing, including how much is a down payment and which fees are included.
- Monthly payment, number of payments, annual mileage allowance, and excess-mile rate.
- Taxes and fees included in the quote versus due separately.
- Eligibility or credit assumptions, plus any acquisition, dealer, or government fees.
- Lease-end disposition, wear, and purchase-option terms.
Compare total scheduled payments plus due-at-signing cash across quotes, then account for any costs excluded from those totals. A large amount paid upfront can make the monthly figure look lower without reducing the total cost by the same amount.

What the 2026 ID.4 offers beyond the lease payment
Volkswagen lists a starting MSRP of $45,095 for the 2026 ID.4. Its model page gives EPA-estimated ranges of 291 miles for the Pro and Pro S and 263 miles for the listed AWD Pro, AWD Pro S, and AWD Pro S Plus trims. Volkswagen also describes a two-year Electrify America Pass+ membership with Plug&Charge for new 2026 ID.4 vehicles, subject to its terms, account, and enrollment conditions. The page specifies the plan for vehicles purchased from an authorized U.S.-based Volkswagen dealer; do not assume the benefit applies to a lease without confirming the applicable terms.

Charging access and a separately sold adapter
Volkswagen says compatible 2026 ID.4 vehicles can use Tesla Superchargers with a Volkswagen-approved NACS adapter, sold separately. The adapter is for compatible DC chargers only. Volkswagen says not to use it with Level 1 or Level 2 AC charging, including a home charger. Confirm compatibility and current program terms before buying the accessory; it is not a required cost for every driver.

Before you accept an offer
- Confirm the dealer is participating and the specific new, unused 2026 ID.4 qualifies for the $6,000 bonus.
- Get a written quote showing the vehicle price, incentive, term, mileage allowance, payment, and every amount due at signing.
- Calculate the scheduled payments plus upfront cash, and identify taxes, fees, or lease-end charges not included.
- Check whether the mileage allowance fits your driving and whether the excess-mile rate changes the economics.
- Verify the offer is still available and the vehicle has not been sold before visiting or signing.
