In a 2022 interview, the then-24-year-old founder of Eleven11 Media Relations described building a public relations business around her passions, her family background and the relationships behind successful events. Her message is personal advice—not proof that age never affects careers or that every Latina has the same experience.
Why Martins says age should not define a Latina’s ambitions
Martins told People Chica that she hopes younger Latinas will remember that “age is not an obstacle and does not limit their success.” The interview, published March 15, 2022, identified her as 24 and as the founder of Eleven11 Media Relations. That age is a detail from the time of publication, not a statement about her age today.
Her point is about how people approach their own goals: she urged younger women not to measure their progress against somebody else’s timeline. “Everyone, of course, has to start somewhere, but hard work and intelligence are often recognized, so don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s!” she said.
How Martins built a business around public relations
Martins said she started Eleven11 Media Relations because she was passionate about public relations, building relationships and creative work. Her interview describes PR as more than its visible social events: the work also involves planning, coordination and responding to problems as they arise.

The preparation behind an event
As an example, Martins recalled an event that took more than a hundred hours of planning and required a checklist of over 50 tasks, along with coordination among contractors and vendors. These are her recollections of one event, not industry-wide time or workload estimates.
She also pushed back on the idea that PR is simply “partying.” “While PR is fun, it is a job and not just ‘partying,’ which is how some people interpret it at times,” she said. The distinction matters to her account of entrepreneurship: creative work may be public-facing, but it depends on less visible preparation and relationship management.
Why representing Latino clients is personal to her
Martins connected her work with Latino clients to her family’s Brazilian background. In the interview, she described relatives living in São Paulo and her father’s move to the United States, and said that family history makes representing Latino clients personally meaningful to her. This is her account of her own motivation, not a general explanation of Latino migration or a claim about all Latinas in business.
Martins’s advice to younger Latinas
Her advice combines persistence with choosing supportive relationships. She encouraged young Latinas to pursue their interests without taking shortcuts: “Create your path and don’t cut any corners—if you are following a passion, stick with it and success will come.”
Rank #3
- Don’t compare timelines. Martins’s advice is to focus on your own path rather than use someone else’s progress as the measure of your potential.
- Build around a genuine interest. She says her enthusiasm for PR, relationships and creative work motivated her to start an agency.
- Find women who support one another. Martins urged younger Latinas to seek strong, loyal and motivated women who will encourage them.
She also shared a saying she attributes to her father: “Use good thoughts as your sword and shield. Like attracts like. If you believe in good, you will get good.”

Martins’s story offers one entrepreneur’s perspective on age, ambition and work. The interview does not establish that age has no effect on career outcomes, provide population-level evidence about Latinas in business or represent every Latina’s path. It does show how Martins framed her own experience: pursue meaningful work, take the preparation seriously and avoid treating someone else’s timeline as your own.
In the same interview, she described creating the podcast Behind the Media to introduce audiences to people whose work happens behind visible entertainment and media outcomes. Those details reflect her projects and goals as described in March 2022; the interview does not establish whether the podcast or agency remains active today.
