PerthNow reported in July 2025 that number 1 had appeared most often in Lotterywest Saturday Lotto draws across the period from July 1985 to mid-July 2025. That is a record of past draws, not a sign that 1—or any other number—is more likely to be drawn next. The $30 million Megadraw mentioned in the original report was scheduled for 26 July 2025 and has passed.
Which Saturday Lotto numbers were drawn most often?
PerthNow reported that Lotterywest records for draws 413 to 4589 showed number 1 at the top of the frequency count. The figures below are PerthNow’s account of Lotterywest historical records; the full contemporaneous table was not available in the official sources cited here.
| Number | Reported appearances |
|---|---|
| 1 | 417 |
| 11 | 414 |
| 8 | 407 |
| 44 | 329 |
The reported range runs from draw 413 in July 1985 through draw 4589 in mid-July 2025. Number 44 was described as the least frequent, while the report identified 1, 11 and 8 as the three most frequent. These counts are attributed to Lotterywest by PerthNow’s 24 July 2025 report; they should not be read as an independently audited full data set.
Are some Lotto numbers luckier than others?
“Luckiest” here means most often drawn in that historical window. It does not mean a number has an advantage in a future draw. Lotterywest says Saturday Lotto numbers are selected at random, each number has an equal chance, and there is no way to predict the result. Choosing numbers yourself rather than using a Slikpik does not change the odds, according to Lotterywest’s FAQ.

Frequency rankings also depend on the cut-off date. Lotterywest’s January 2025 release named 1, 11, 18, 22 and 42 among its most frequently drawn winning numbers at that earlier point. Its frequency chart updated 18 July 2015 covered draws through 3547 and showed a different historical tally. Different snapshots need not match: they cover different draw periods.
Do frequently drawn numbers improve your odds?
No. Lotterywest describes Saturday Lotto as drawing eight numbers from a barrel of 45: the first six are winning numbers and the final two are supplementary numbers. A line built around numbers that appeared more often in the past does not become more likely to win. Lotterywest’s current Saturday Lotto page lists Division 1 odds of 1 in 8,145,060 for one standard game and overall odds of 1 in 42 for any prize; these are current page figures, not necessarily the terms for the July 2025 Megadraw. See Lotterywest’s Saturday Lotto page.
Buying additional game combinations is different from choosing “hot” numbers: more combinations cover more possible outcomes, but cost more. It does not make any individual number more likely to be drawn.

PerthNow quoted an unnamed Lotterywest spokesperson saying that WA players often choose meaningful numbers such as birthdays or anniversaries, while winning numbers are entirely random. The spokesperson also said Slikpiks—numbers randomly generated by a terminal—account for around 65 per cent of Division One wins across all games. That reported figure concerns wins across all games, not a guarantee or a Saturday Lotto-specific probability.
