Both web/computer Robux purchases and gift-card purchases qualify for Roblox’s “up to 25% more Robux” pricing, so a gift card is not automatically the better deal. Compare the exact package, card type and total after tax before paying.
How do Robux purchases and gift cards compare?
| Factor | Buy Robux directly | Buy a gift card |
|---|---|---|
| Robux value | Web and computer purchases qualify for up to 25% more Robux than purchases on other platforms. The amount depends on the package and current checkout. | Gift-card purchases also qualify for up to 25% more Robux. The benefit is not exclusive to cards, and “up to” does not guarantee the maximum for every purchase. |
| What the purchase provides | Robux are added to the account used for the purchase. | Most standard Roblox gift cards add Roblox Credit, which can be spent on Robux or eligible Roblox services. Some codes, including Amazon digital gift-card codes and Party Pack cards, redeem for Robux only. |
| Who controls the account | The buyer needs to make the purchase on the intended account. | The recipient can redeem the card on their own account, subject to the specific card’s terms. |
| Steps and timing | Robux are delivered to the account used at checkout. | Most users need to redeem the card in a browser. Digital card delivery is often immediate, but Roblox says some orders can take up to 24 hours for security checks. |
| Refunds | Check the purchase terms and checkout before paying. | Roblox Support says it does not provide refunds for gift cards. Retail codes also state that they cannot be returned or refunded. |
Which option is better for your situation?
Buying Robux for yourself
Use Roblox web or computer checkout if you know which account should receive the Robux and want to avoid a separate redemption step. Compare the Robux total for the package you want against its final checkout cost, including applicable tax. A gift card can still make sense if you already have one or want Roblox Credit that can be used for eligible Roblox services.
Buying a present
A gift card is generally the more practical present because the recipient can redeem it to their own account and, for a standard credit-bearing card, choose among eligible uses. Before buying, check whether the specific card provides Roblox Credit or Robux only. Some cards may also include a virtual item; item availability and selection depend on the card and Roblox’s terms.
Buying for an account you cannot access
A gift card lets you avoid entering payment details on someone else’s account. Make sure the recipient can redeem it and knows that most cards must be redeemed through a browser.

How to decide whether a card gives better value
- Compare the same kind of purchase. Roblox says web/computer Robux purchases and gift-card purchases receive up to 25% more Robux than purchases on other platforms. This is an “up to” benefit, not a promise that every package or card yields the same bonus. Roblox describes the pricing as an ongoing global change. See Roblox Support’s ways to get Robux.
- Check the exact card and its redemption type. A standard gift card usually becomes Roblox Credit, while some codes are Robux-only. For example, Roblox says its Party Pack contains 25 physical cards, each redeemable for 200 Robux. These figures describe that product, not all Roblox cards.
- Compare the final cost in your region. Package totals, currency conversion, taxes and retailer availability vary. Use the amount shown at checkout or on the retailer’s current listing rather than assuming a card’s face value maps to a fixed number of Robux.
- Account for any extra benefit. Certain gift cards include a virtual item, and card terms may provide bonus Robux. Roblox’s virtual-item guidance limits free gift-card items to one unique item per month per account; the item selection can change. Review Roblox’s gift-card information.
Where and how can you redeem a Roblox gift card?
Roblox directs most users to redeem gift cards in a browser. The standard mobile app and consoles do not support redemption; Samsung Galaxy users are an exception. Roblox says gift-card codes can be redeemed worldwide, but conversion and the amount of credit can depend on the account’s currency and the card’s terms. Use the account you intend to receive the balance before redeeming. Roblox explains how to redeem and spend a gift card.
What to check before you pay
- Retailer: Buy from an authorized retailer. Roblox warns that cards from unauthorized sellers may not be honored.
- Card type: Confirm whether the product adds Roblox Credit or redeems directly for Robux.
- Final price: Account for taxes and any currency conversion; compare against the Robux total shown for the intended package.
- Refund terms: Treat a gift-card purchase as final. Roblox Support says, “Roblox does not provide refunds for gift cards.”
- PIN safety: Do not share a card code with strangers or use it to pay debts or unrelated purchases. Roblox says offers promising free Robux are scams; there are no free-Robux codes.
Can you gift Robux directly instead?
Roblox also offers a Robux-gifting feature in limited circumstances. Roblox says it is currently available only to select U.S. users on computer or web, with age, location and phone-verification requirements. Gifts are final sale.
