Hamster Kombat resembled Notcoin in its Telegram-based tap-to-earn format, but the available evidence does not show that it matched Notcoin’s token-market performance or lasting audience. The headline figure—more than 150 million “active players”—was a project-reported milestone, not an independently audited count, and later figures measured different things.
What did Hamster Kombat’s 150 million figure mean?
Hamster Kombat’s official Telegram channel announced “OVER 150,000,000 ACTIVE PLAYERS” and described the game as having more than 150 million “CEOs.” That is a project-reported milestone; the announcement does not establish an independent audit or define the measurement method. It should be read as a historical claim, not a current player count. Hamster Kombat’s official Telegram archive
The same post separately listed more than 36 million Telegram followers, 22.7 million YouTube subscribers, and 7.6 million X followers. Those are audience figures for social channels, not additional players. They should not be added to the game’s player count or treated as proof that each follower played. How did Hamster Kombat compare with Notcoin?
Platform and gameplay
Both games fit the Telegram tap-to-earn or play-to-airdrop trend. Crypto.com Research described Hamster Kombat in July 2024 as a Telegram game in which players run a fictional crypto exchange and earn in-game coins by tapping, placing it alongside Notcoin as part of that trend. This supports a comparison of format and onboarding—not a claim that the games delivered the same financial outcome. Crypto.com Research, July 2024

What the numbers measure
Hamster Kombat later reported that more than 300 million people had joined since March 26, 2024, and that 131 million qualified for its September 26 airdrop. The project also said around 2.3 million people were banned as cheaters. Cumulative joins, eligibility, and bans are different measures from the earlier “active players” milestone, and none should be presented as the number of tokens received by each person. Token distribution and utility
The project said HMSTR distribution would be available through exchanges, Telegram Wallet, or an in-app balance. It also described use in future ecosystem apps and games as a planned utility. These are project statements about distribution routes and intended future use; they do not establish a guaranteed payout, a token’s future value, or whether the planned utility would make the token valuable. Did Hamster Kombat keep its audience after the airdrop?
Crypto.com Research’s 2024 year review reported 41 million active monthly players in November 2024, down 86% from 300 million in August. It also noted declines in activity after the token generation event. These are dated secondary figures, not a present-day audience count, and they are not directly interchangeable with the project’s cumulative-join or airdrop-eligibility totals. The evidence supports calling Hamster Kombat a major Telegram tap-to-earn phenomenon and comparing its format with Notcoin’s. It does not establish an apples-to-apples comparison of current retention or token-market results. A large reported audience can show that a game attracted attention; by itself, it cannot show that players will remain active, that a token will appreciate, or that participation will produce a profit.

- Treat project-reported player and airdrop figures as claims with specific dates and definitions, not audited financial metrics.
- Separate game activity from social-channel reach, cumulative sign-ups, airdrop eligibility, and token distribution.
- Do not infer future token returns from a tap-to-earn game’s popularity or from its similarity to another project.
