What CDKeys sells—and what that does not prove
CDKeys describes its products as digital activation codes delivered by email or made available in a customer account; they are not physical discs. Its FAQ also links to a refund policy. That distinction matters. A retailer can be a real operating business and deliver working codes without the available evidence establishing that every code came through a publisher-authorized channel. The official FAQ does not substantiate either a blanket claim that all CDKeys keys are authorized or the opposite claim that all are illicit. The material available also does not establish a CDKeys-specific failure rate or a universal legal conclusion across jurisdictions.
What risks should you consider?
Compatibility is listing-specific
Before checkout, confirm the platform, region, edition, and redemption requirements shown on the exact product listing. A code intended for another platform or region may not suit your account. A low price by itself says nothing about whether a particular code is compatible.

Invalid or revoked codes can leave you dealing with the seller
Steam Support explains that if a CD key is revoked, the user who wants to play again must purchase the game from the Steam Store, activate another key, or receive a gift copy. For a key bought through a third-party website, Steam suggests contacting the seller to request a refund; its guidance does not promise reimbursement for a third-party purchase. This is Steam’s general guidance for revoked keys, not evidence of a CDKeys-specific revocation rate. The available material does not establish how often codes from CDKeys fail or are revoked.

Refund eligibility is not established here
CDKeys links to its refund policy, but the detailed eligibility rules are not established in the FAQ information available here. Read the live policy before purchase, save your order confirmation and evidence of code delivery, and contact the seller promptly if a code fails. Do not assume that a platform will refund a purchase made elsewhere.
How to decide whether to buy
- Check the exact product page. Verify platform, region, edition, and redemption instructions before checkout.
- Review the current refund terms. Check what the seller says about invalid codes and preserve a copy or screenshot of the relevant terms and order details.
- Compare the final price and recourse. Compare CDKeys with the official store or a retailer whose publisher authorization is documented for that listing. Treat savings claims as seller claims, not independent proof.
- Redeem only on the named platform. Keep the delivery evidence and contact the seller promptly if the code does not work.
- If Steam revokes a key, contact the seller. Steam’s published guidance is to seek a refund from the third-party seller; it does not promise to reimburse that purchase.
How to read CDKeys’ savings claim
CDKeys says customers save approximately £18, $21, or €20 per purchase. The FAQ does not state the year, calculation method, or independent validation for that average, so it should be understood as the company’s own claim—not as a verified typical saving for your purchase. CDKeys FAQ
